Quite an impressive design and architecture. Certainly dominates the area, and the avenue leading up to it is designed to help it stand out more. Lots of vehicles on the avenue which circle around it, so be careful if you are focusing more on the building than where you might be standing. Plenty of nearby cafes. Easily accessible on foot,... Very impressive architecture and story behind the congress building, the statues and the square. Must see while in Buenos Aires! Make sure you take the free walking tour which starts at this location. There are many cafes nearby if you want to grab a drink or use the restroom. The building has the world's largest dome which is quite impressive... More

The architecture of this building is wonderful. I like the top part most. When I was there it was closed so I could not get in.

Very beautiful congress building with a nice square/fountans in front of it. It was light up in green at night, not sure if they change the colors I only saw green!!! tons of souvenirs are offered to tourists in the area in front of the Congreso.

The exterior architecture of the building is fine, but the real appeal of a visit are the free guided tours. Guided tours are available Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri at 12:30 p.m., 5 p.m. in English and Spanish. If meetings are in session, certain parts of the tour will be inaccessible, but visitors are usually given a chance to sit in... More

Walked past the congress building towards the end of a long walking day. It wasn't open so we didn't go inside. I like the park in front of the building but guarded my belongs more than usual since there are a lot of homeless people living in the park. I didn't feel threatened, but was just more cautious. On the... More

Vicky (Victoria) gave an amazing tour that started at Rivadavia Avenue and Rodriguez Peña. Meet at 11 AM to learn about culture, customs, architecture and tasty treats. The Congress Building is similar to the Congressional building in DC in form and function. "The Thinker" is located in the beautiful plaza sculpture garden. 'The Thinker" is only the third of eight... More

This is a beautiful building with gardens opposite. Please beware in these gardens as thieves operate quite a disgusting trick. As you walk under the trees you may feel as if a bird has done something on you and then some helpful locals will appear to assist you, by helping you to clean the 'bird poo' off your clothes. while... The Congreso in Buenos Aires is probably the most beautiful parliament building in the world, compared perhaps only with the one in Budapest.

Staying in Montserrat

Neighbourhood Profile
Montserrat
As part of the historic quarter of Buenos Aires, Montserrat is defined by the historical events that took place there and the landmarks that have stood the test of time. The Plaza de Mayo is at the center of this connection to history: countless public demonstrations have passed through this square, going back to the May Revolution of 1810. Walking the streets of Montserrat allows us to imagine what Buenos Aires may have looked like in the past: the Cabildo takes us back to the late 16th century, while the Palacio Barolo and the traditional cafés carry us to the early 20th. Nowadays, the neighbourhood is inundated every day by office workers, buses, and taxis; still, the cobblestones, narrow sidewalks, and subway stations from the 1910s remind us that we are surrounded by history everywhere we look.
