Named by the DownBeat as one of the worlds top Jazz Venues. Intimate music and low lighting set the mood for this one-of-a-kind spot where live music is being impovised by the very best Jazz musicians. DownBeat International - 2014.

Great place to hear good jazz. A tiny place with a surprisingly good acoustic. Make sure to place reservations 2-3 days in advance and you will get the front tables

We were recommended by a local. If you like Jazz, this is the way Jazz was intended to be listened to: small intimate venue, good acoustics, reasonable snacks and drinks and cover, professional Jazz musicians. Definitely off the tourist track. We hope to return on our next trip. Thank you Clara for the recommendation.

It is a great venue with great jazz. Being summer time we were worried that it may be a hot stuffy and smoky venue but it wasn't. Despite being in an old building the ventilation was great, and more importantly so was the jazz.

Thelonious earns extra points for having a great vibe. You pass through an almost unmarked door, up a flight of stairs, and into the club. Great decor - small shaded lamps on cabaret tables, a mass of exposed bulbs tied together hovering over the stage. Really great. The night I was there I heard a jazz quintet playing tribute to... We saw a tribute to Charlie Parker. Venue is very cool. Mostly local crowd. Nice tapas, good wine. You can only book through email. We got the last table in the back, but I ask the hostess if she could move us up in case someone cancelled. She did. I gave her a nice tip. It could be hard to... More

Staying in Palermo

Neighbourhood Profile
Best known as the largest neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, Palermo is divided into different quarters, each with its own unique identity. The high-end quarter is Palermo Chico, characterized by magnificent mansions, regal avenues, and exclusive apartment buildings, and home to the Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires (MALBA), a favourite amongst locals. The largest park in the city, the Bosques de Palermo, is Palermo's most famous landmark and a popular destination for nature walks, picnics, rollerblading, and cycling. The scene becomes much trendier in Palermo Soho, a hip area known for its cool cafés and unique design stores, filled with shoppers on weekends; and Palermo Hollywood, renowned for the numerous restaurants, bars and nightclubs, which make it the preferred spot for nights out and special occasions.
