Always worth a visit when in Olhao. Gets busy on mass days. Still a well maintained whitewashed building with character. Although the big nests were visible I didn’t actually see any storks this time - a pity as this is their spiritual home.

Enjoying history and all the landmarks in Faro, this is definitely one not to be missed, very beautiful in the Old Town near the marina with a nice square surrounding it.

Local chiech

Like with every town and city of Portugal, this is the local church at the end of a broad avenue. Beautiful to look at from outside and minimal on inside but still amazing in the intricacies of the altar.

If you are in Olhão and on the way to the bustling marina, this church is a good stopover on the way.

Went there recently to hear a choral group on Saturday. Rammed with people and the group were really, really good. The Mayor was there and gave a speech which sounded good.

Nossa Senhora do Rosario
Nov 2018 • Solo
The church where the fishing community gathers to celebrate the living - baptisms, weddings, confirmations, and fishing festivals. Services to mourn or remember the dead including those lost at sea are held next door in the funerary chapel dedicated to Nossa Senhora dos Aflitos.

Minimal yet beautiful
Oct 2018 • Solo
This small church is one of the symbols of Olhao. From the outside it looks quite minimal and only the back shows azulejos and candles. The interior is beautifully done and cared for and it is worth a couple of minutes spent in meditation.

Beautify traditional church
Oct 2018 • Couples
Traditional Catholic Church that is still very much in use as was evident by the number of locals leaving after a Sunday morning. During the week the church is open and is free entry, it is quite beautiful inside with stained class windows and religious imagery inside.

A special place
Aug 2018 • Solo
I love to visit this church when holidaying in Olhao. It is wonderful to share mass with the local community and to feel the spirituality and peace within. Special blessings to the lady who cleans the church and, on the night I attended mass, sang in the choir and gave a reading. A devoted servant.

Storks paradise
Jun 2018 • Couples
A lovely white washed church whose biggest congregation is the storks that reside in the towers. They fly in and out at will to feed their young. It is a well maintained church both inside and out - well worth a visit when exploring Olhão.

Refurbishment taking place
May 2018 • Solo
Refurbishment presently taking place inside and out but you can still go in and it does not seem to bother the storks that always nest here.
