A Lovely Little Town.
Nov 2020
I really liked Castelo de Vide! The old quarter with its narrow cobbled streets, the castle, numerous old churches, synagogue museum, fountains and a lot of cafés and restaurants. The town (city) is not very big and everything is within walking distance. The main square, Praça Dom Pedro V, is a good location to find accommodation and in the centre of that square is the town's tourist office. One usually associates a city centre as being the central business district, full of shops of various kinds. Castelo de Vide though is not the kind of town one visits to go shopping, but rather to relax, enjoy some historical sights and to use as a base for exploring the region. Highly recommended.

Quaint little Town
Mar 2020
the city center of Castelo de Vide is very clean, the stores and coffee places are all welcoming to sit and enjoy the view of the building around the square on one side of the Municipal Palace as well as on the other side....it is a very quaint little town, worth visiting.

Clean and alive

This is a vibrant city centre with cafes, small shops and some well tended gardens. Lovely to walk in, but very tough for cars. When we were there, the town had closed off the only approach to hold a medieval fair.

Fortified mountain town with castle, restaurants and cafés
Jul 2018 • Family
We visited the old castle following a street on the top of the mountain from the church São Roque on the other side of town; a wonderful stroll through medieval architecture, towers, fortifications that ended with lunch on a restaurant terrace on the town square. Spend easily 3-4 hours as flaneur. Good with kids, and stroller

Small little town that we stopped in for a lunch - windy day in May too!

Nice small little town that we stopped in for a lunch - windy day. I wouldn't go out of my way to stop here unless you want to see a town that doesn't get alot of tourists.

Reforming the city center
May 2018 • Couples
They are in the face lifting process of the city center. Modern and old hand in hand in the main square. Nice! Beautiful old fountain. Facades of the buildings almost all redone. Plenty of parking space.

Another small Portuguese town with cobbled narrow windy streets. Quite lovely. Definitely visit if you're in the area.

A very pleasant town to spend a few hours in
Nov 2017 • Friends
There is actually quite a bit to see in this small town. We didn't really plan enough time to see it all. There are interesting churches, pretty parks and plazas and nice shops and restaurants as well as the old castle area and old Jewish neighbourhood. We didn't get to go up to the mountaintop church, which I would have loved to have seen and taken pictures from.

Clean and beautiful

A very nice small town in Portugal close to the border with Spain, very well taken care of. Everything is accessible at walking distance. The inheritance from the Jewish community is still well preserved.
