We spent a day hiking the waterfall trail. The scenery is beautiful with lots of hiking and mountain biking routes ranging in distance and difficulty. It isn't too far from Town so accessible but feels very tranquil and more remote than it is. May be busy on the weekends but there are plenty of routes to choose from.

When ever we talk about our hike in Jonkershoek Nature Reserve, the highlight was definitely the Waterfall. Unbelievably beautiful and so magical. Very secluded - a real GEM!! Our timing was perfect as we were the only people there at that time at the waterfall. Staff at the gate not very helpful and didn't inform us about the rough road... More

Breath-taking views, clear skies, fresh air and a tranquillity unchallenged. Excellent for bicycles and hikers. This is as close to nature as you can get.

I took an MTB trip through the reserve. It has suffered from wildfires, but to see how nature reconquers the rough also has its charmes. Had booked a tour with the Stellenbosch-based Cape Velo. Heaven for mountain biking, but there were quite a number of hikers in the valley too. The cars were somewhat in the way, but fortunately they... More

The Jonkershoek Nature Reserve is an idyllic place where major mountain ranges form a beautiful valley and where the Eerste River starts. There are a large range of hiking trails and mountain biking tracks as well as a circular route on a gravel road for less experienced bikers. The spectrum of mountain fynbos, stunning trees and ferns in the along... More

This was a wonderful walk, albeit very very hot, a great tip is go when there is cloud cover!! and cooler I suggest 25 degrees, it really gets very very hot up there. However, it was wonderful and I would definitely recommend this Nature reserve.
