Birds close up and personal

A great live show with a humorous host showing off many different birds, its great to know they rescue birds that would other wise have died from their injuries.

We took one of our guests who was visiting from Sweden out to the Eagle Encounters for the day. We had a wonderful time and learnt a lot about our wonderful birdlife in Cape Town. We would definitely recommend this to our guests again.

we spent an enjoyable couple of hours here and it was better than we expected. There are a good range of birds of prey, the flying display is well run and even involved a wild bird sneaking in for some free food! The interaction levels with the owls and eagle are exceptional and beyond what we expected.

Whether you like birds or owels, I never expected this level of interaction or experience You are out in a cage with 9 owels that basically will come by and get treats from you Place them where you'd like and they will allow you to take pictures This was a highlight of the trip

We visited the Eagle Encounters at the Spier Wine Farm. It is highly educational for adults and children to view the birds of prey at the centre. The show was also very enjoyable. This visit will enlighten the challenges birds of prey face with the encroachment of their natural habitat. It is a must visit at Spier

The whole experience is very informative. You first get some info on arrival on how the eagle encounters work. From there you go past the different cages and even get to hold some of the birds.

We stopped here with our kids in mind, and the Eagle and Birds of Prey encounters and show did not disappoint. BUT the adults were delighted by the sophisticated restaurant and truly enchanting setting and picnic grounds. Very nice arts and crafts on the grounds as well.

As a belated Valentines Day gift, I decided to take my owl-obsessed girlfriend to Eagle Encounters to go and see these beautiful birds in action. We started with their interactive feeding session where different birds of display are showed off and encouraged to sit on your hand or head (yes, head). As we wondered around thinking this was the highlight... More

After a tasting of the delicious wines at Spier Winery go to the left of the winery building down the path to the Eagle Encounters display. Wander around the large enclosures and settle in for a demonstration by one of the keepers. The birds here are ones that have been injured or rescued. We had a wonderful and informative visit... We enjoyed our short visit to see the raptors and a snake or two. The range of birds is impressive and they were all quite alert. The owls which you were able to stroke were just gorgeous If you are at the Spier Hotel or making an excursion do not miss this delightful attraction
