Had a great walk through the forest with a family of 4. Did the 9km route and was treated to numerous sightings of Knysna Louries . The walk is easy with the odd steep spot but will within even my somewhat less than fit abilities....More

We did the 3 Km trail with our kids today and they just loved it. For a boy aged 6 and his twin sisters aged 3, it was quite an adventure which fanned the flames of their young imaginations. There were fairies, trolls under the...More

Being a big fan of Dalene Matthee I particularly enjoyed this walk. The forest is thick and beautiful and the 3km trail is just enough for a novice hiker. A bit slippery, but keeps you on your toes.

Terrible with a capital T! If you suffer from any joint pain or do not have the stamina and balance of a mountain goat on steroids then give this place a miss. Muddy wet leaf covered paths with tree routes just to ensure a guaranteed...More

I'm not crazy about hiking, though I have done my share of hikes in places like Canada, Nepal and the Amazon. To me, a good hike provides rewards beyond exhaustion. A beautiful view, a hidden waterfall, rare animals etc. Circles didn't really offer any of...More

We walked the 9km trail in 2 hours and 25 minutes. Wildlife was heard rather than seen, but we did see a large family of baboons towards the end of the walk. The walk starts out as more challenging than it becomes so don't be...More

The perfect family outing: we trailed the 3km option leaving the 9km route for the next time we are back in Knysna. The forest canopy reaches majestically into the sky...huge stinkwoods plus several other magnificent species, yellowwoods, that are hundreds and hundreds...and hundreds of years...More

Overcast and drizzling, but it was our last day in the area and decided to go anyway! The highlight of our trip so far. 3km fairly easy walking in a magical place. The tree canopy protected us from the drizzle and we stayed fairly dry....More

What an experience! Walking in the Knysna forest transports you to another world and place in time. You can just imagine being able to write a best selling novel about this place. The 3km is an easy walk with some inclines and uneven surfaces. Beware...More

Yes it is safe from a security point of view but I never think it is a good idea to hike on your own never mind how safe. You can never predict if you will slip or fall. Therefore I would advise not to do it on your own.
