Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visiting Knysna and the Heads at the entrance of the lagoon was part of our Gardenrout tour. We drove to the "Rocks" and from the viewing platform shapes on the EAST HEAD we looked into the abyss of the about 200 m wide lagoon entrance. When we were there it was just low tide. Some skippers claim that this is one of the most dangerous harbour entrances in the world. Many ships sank before the heads, as the current here is very unpredictable. When you look into the depths like this and see the surf, this is quite conceivable. It is a very impressive place and worth seeing. The path between the individual viewpoints is well developed but only partially suitable for wheelchair users due to the many steps.

From the highway, turn onto George Rex drive and follow it all the way. From here, a short walk will take you to the two panoramic pitches that look one towards the bay and the village, the other towards the sea entrance and the ocean. Beautiful both and very suggestive at sunrise and sunset.

The views are truly magnificent. We've been going for years to Knysna and go up to the viewpoint every time. The wild ocean on the one side and the calm waters on the other side. It's a must see when you're visiting Knysna.

Following the directions of the navigator we arrived at the viewpoint from which you can see a beautiful panorama over the embrace of the ocean and the lagoon. The view is not lacking. There is a small path from which you can have different perspectives of the panorama.

Path relatively easy access , a little waiting at the parking / end of the road . Arrivals on site , magnificent views of the ocean and the mouth of the lagoon , fresh wind , ocean a little rough . Some anglers , people contemplating in front of this magnificent landscape . A seal playing with the swell. In short superb.

A great few hours can be spent exploring and enjoying the views of the Knysna heads. Several spots to have coffee/tea and a great lunch location near the ice cream shop too. And if you are looking to buy a hat, there are vendors in this area too. Impressive that there are parking attendants on site to ensure the safety of your parked vehicle too.

Situated at the end of GeorgeRex Avenue this is a must do. You don’t have to lay anything it’s always open, I am sure you will see amazing sunsets, or might even spot a whale or dolphin. Walk around all the viewpoints at the top and take a plunge in the cold refreshing water at the bottom - nice jetty to enter water at the NSRI building.

It's amazing, stop at first below the heads and walk around the walkways to the rocks, where the Indian Ocean breaks in. Enjoy the power of the ocean. Than drive up to the heads and have a bright view via the ocean, the lagoon and the surrounding area.

The Heads are a natural mystic in Knysna. The Atlantic Ocean shows it power pushing through. On top you have a amazing view over the ocean and the lagoon. This view is a must see! The heads also have beaches where you can listen to the waves and enjoy being there by yourself because not very often people go there.

Gosh the views are stunning. And you also gain an appreciation of the power of nature with the waves crashing in and around the rocks. We drove up East Head and parked, wandering down part way, then drove back to take in the stunning scenery from sea level. The walks along the coastal edge are great too... especially in the beautiful sunshine

The Heads can be visited either by land or by sea. Park at the East Head Cafe and experience The Heads by land along the various rocky paths and lookout points. One can also drive up to the Coney lookout point for a magnificent 360 degree view of the sea, Heads and Lagoon. Then visit East Head for a coffee, drink and meal. Seeing The Heads from the sea is even more spectacular. We have the privilege of owning a boat so visit The Heads by sea often. However, there are many charter companies that offer Heads excursions from the harbour or Cruise Cafe.

Obrigado.

We had lunch at the Waterfront at The Dry Dock. The oysters were fantastic and so was the steak.
