I have used both options Hout Bay and Llandudno to go to Sandy Bay and can definitely say that the walk from Llandudno is so much easier. The Sandy beach below looked inviting but the weather was not quite warm enough. You could see Hout Bay far in the distance and the fishermans wharf offered a variety of places to eat.

Be aware no buses are allowed so if you want to see this place drive yourself or take a taxi. Also the beach is nudist OK

This is one of our favorite spots in Cape Town- you park and hike to the beach. Very pretty, fairly private.

We visited during the winter on a windy chilly day so no naked fellow in such circumstances... But the beach and the natural views - perfect! The only inconvenience - we for some reason drew the attention of the outdoor merchants who bombarded us with their propositions. That shortened our stay and was not enjoyable.

The only sad thing about Sandy Bay, is that you cannot carry anything on you......plus never go alone. It is very dangerous on the path to Sandy Bay. Once you get there it is heavenly.
