I had not visited the National Gallery for several years. I do not wish to write a lengthy discourse on the displays but I found many of the rooms empty and utterly boring and some totally devoid of "art". I realise that there were various "themes" but I know that they have a large number of great paintings (obviously in... More

The wonderful thing about art is that it is all a matter of opinion. You'll like what some people hate. Many different exhibitions which will be sure to interest most people. My favorite has to be the portraits by Diane Victor. Cheap entry as well.

i saw several very interesting exhibitions in the National Gallery. Unfortunately they cool the rooms to such a low temperature that you cannot stay in there for too long without a wintercoat in the midst of summer

The best thing about this museum is the beaded assault vehicle which is outside. I found the indoor exhibits less than interesting...although there are a few good pieces. Also, some of the exhibits are incomplete.

We had high expectations and staff and facilities were all good. The collection was highly political and would benefit from being a bit more balanced with other art genres.

We came after seeing the Natural History museum just steps away as both entries were covered with the same ticket. There was plenty to see here and several pieces of the contemporary art were edgy and political with apartheid, understandably, a dominant theme. Many of the internal doors were adorned above them with beautiful carvings by one artist that depicted... More

Really enjoyed our visit to the Gallery, there was much to make you think and challenge you, which is always a good thing in my opinion! It was a cool relaxing place to be on a hot day and cheap entry. Can be found just off Company's Gardens

Limited but interesting collection of art. 90 minutes at most needed, 60 minutes will be fine though. I particularly enjoyed the painting of The Sirens.

On our final day in Cape Town, before flying back home, we wanted to visit the museum. For security reasons I phoned the museum to ask if they had guarded parking anywhere around the museum. I got the answer: "the parking space at gallery ave is protected by cctv that is checked inside the museum" Before going into the museum,... More
