The Maynardville park and amphitheater is one of the highlights of the summer season in Cape Town. Every year, we are spoiled with a ballet and Shakespeare production in the open air, usually preceded by a picnic in the park, which is clean and safe....More

Superb choreography in a simple classic performance. A spectacle, with a highly talented and experienced cast (who must have been frozen. We were). These Shakespeare Sunday evenings in February are always worth going to, and almost always sold out by the night. The setting is...More

Our second visit to enjoy a Shakespeare play outdoors on a warm summer evening. The stage is surrounded by trees and with subtle but clever lighting makes for a great atmosphere. Only 160 Rand (£11) gets you a brilliant seat in the 700 seat theatre....More

Beautiful venue! Cannot believe that this was my first time! Great to experience Shakespeare but with a South African twist. Wonderfully directed with a superb cast! Sound, lighting, costumes... Everything was superb! Can't wait for my next visit!

This amphitheater setting for the Christmas Carols Concerts was perfect. We were invited to this picnic event by a friend celebrating her birthday. The atmosphere was vibrant. The environment also felt safe and this was welcoming. I look forward to attending future events here.

Early each year during February, outdoor Shakespear plays are presented. A definate must visit, even though in high summer take a jersey and a blanket as it gets cold later the evening. Going most years for the past 15 years, always a good evening out.

Had a wonderful picnic with friends and show was excellent. A very different experience. Could maybe just have a few more coffee stations during interval, because we had to wait a long time to get something to drink. Only one vendor. Will definitely go again....More

We went last year to see Midsummer's Night Dream. The outdoor setting for this was perfect. The chairs did get a bit uncomfortable so remember to take cushions and a blanket. The weather is unpredictable and the evenings can get a bit chilly in the...More

Just spent a magical Valentines evening at Maynardville Theatre along with 700 others. Shakespeare in the park is well worth a visit. Go early and enjoy a picnic by the lake along with everyone else. This also means you get parked easier on the road...More
