Hidden in the jungle of housing complexes, this sanctuary come as a bit of a surprise.Well kept, one meanders through pathways along waterways and dry bush. Certainly an interesting spot to visit, to watch mainly waterbirds. The hides are well maintained and provide excellent viewing.

Such a lovely place to visit on a sunny day. Very unexpected amongst the Century City Towers. A nice place to watch birds and 'get lost' on wooden walkways.

Thoroughly enjoyed this island and especially the boat ride. The guides are well informed and the number of birds you see is a big bonus :)

Not so great if it's very hot, although the sheltered areas are great, especially when the wind blows. We enjoyed the bird hides and watching the bird life. Facilities are good and clean. It would be very educational if the time is taken to do the boat ride and to read everything.

As an alternative to the beach Intaka Island is a great destination with children. On arrival there are two old steam trains to climb all over then in the actual conservation area there is a short walk as well as a longer one with lots of educational opportunities. The short walk is perfect for children under 5. Each child can... More

For many times, i have driven past Century City, promising myself that one day i will go to Intaka Island. Well Sunday past was that day, i took my kids and better half and grandchild to enjoy the boat ride @ Intaka Island, needless to say, my expectation of the trip (due to water restrictions) was not very exciting, irrespective... This was a wonderful surprise. I walked from Canal Walk Shopping centre. Entrance fee is cheap. Birdlife prolific. Restrooms were clean. Opening hours for summer from 7.30 am to 7 pm. A must visit for all engines. Includes history of the steam train which was unusual

The park is simple and the hiking is just a short walk, but it was a great opportunity to know this small oasis of nature in the heart of Century City. The full moon hiking costs just R 40 pp for a reception drink and a guided walk (one and a half hour) throught the park.

I did not know this place existed till I saw a groupon offer for a family of 4 boat cruise around the canals at Century city. What a special treat it was to be a tourist in our own "back yard ". The cruise was sp special and the guide was very knowledgeable and willing to share information- we even... More

I stayed in the area for a number of years before visiting Intaka as it is quite tucked away. It's located in Century City, a new town in Cape Town next to the city's largest shopping mall, Canal Walk. Predominantly wetland, Intaka Island attracts a wide range of birds and it can be fun watching them push branches around the... More
