The Kranshoek Trail is a challenging but very beautiful trail. Starting at the Kranshoek picnic site at the top of a tall waterfall, then winds its way through the forest down into the gorge through which the waterfall's stream flows. It follows this stream towards the coast and then leads along the coast before going up the slopes to the plateau and back to the picnic site via the Kranshoek viewpoint. Distance: 9/ 4km.

This hiking trail starts at the Kranshoek picnic site and from there descends 2 km through shady indigenous forest down to the beach about 200 vertical meters below. Within the forest a stream is crossed several times. There is also a good view point of a waterfall. Eventually a boulder-beach is reached. About hundred meters farther East one could climb... More

This trail is 9km long- in itself not a big distance for a day hike. what brings a challenge to this trail is the terrain. The first section is down through indigenous forest to the sea. Here the going is fairly easy - no major descents, a well laid out path with white footprints indicating the way. It includes a couple... More

This is a stunning stunning hike through beautiful coastal rainforest, along and crossing mountain streams and with beautiful views on waterfalls! There are a few "shortcuts", one right after you get down to the beach after about 1 hr hike and then up the "Alternative Route" which is a steep incline back up to the viewpoint (you see the white... This is a tough hike especially on a hot day but if you're fit enough it's one not to be missed. It's got everything from beaches to forrest and cliffs. In some parts the trail marking can be ambiguous so be careful and in the last part despite there being a good hiking trail for some reason the signposts lead... More

Beautiful, easy trails. Loads of mushrooms of varying colours and shapes, butterflies, tadpoles, wonderful trees. We only went along this trail for a thoroughly enjoyable hour, however as we were entering we met a group of people that were exiting the woods after 4 days and they said that is a tough hike but worth it. Would have liked to... More

A really beautiful trail down through the forest with the path hopping back and forth across a stream. The path opens out on to a deserted rocky beach with really spectacular scenery which looks completely untouched. We only had a couple of hours so unfortunately had to do the short trail but would love to have continued. After a couple... More

This trail was fantastic as a hike down the mountain but quite a trek back up. We packed a picnic lunch and hiked down to a rock beach, chilled and headed back up. It was beautiful and you follow these little white boot prints. It's pretty grueling so pack plenty of water!

My husband and I walked the longer 4 hour trail. The scenery was very beautiful, steps down through the woods and across several streams, followed by a stretch across the beach, then upwards and back along the cliffs. We are in our 30s and quite fit but found the trail hard going. In places you need to scramble up and... More

This is a beautiful hike. We only did the shorter version, which is also good exercise. The view is nice, but you have the same view from the car park. First you walk through a nice forest, which gives you the feeling of being in the wild nature especially when you go in the really morning when it is still... More

My wife and I happened to see a board saying Kranshoek Nature Reserve went in and found a short walk to a spectacular view of the sea and a small waterfall. The staff at the gate where pleasant and helpful and inside the park the toilets were very clean, nice to find this.
