This reserve is a short two-hour drive from Sandton if you use the road via Rustenburg, which I strongly advise. The park has a wonderful range of mammals, birdlife and flora, and is a "Big 5" destination. We were well rewarded with excellent sightings of...More

If you have a day to spare, you can consider going to this park on a safari tour. The drive is about 2.5 hours with a break and the park is huge. Mountains and small ponds make it a huge playground for the wild animals....More

You see enough animals, the big five are there, just stay on the tare road, the gravel roads are in a poor condition. Rather make use of a Rental or 4x4.

Pilanesberg National Park is a wonderful place to see wildlife. The place is so accessible and there are plenty of hotels and lodges near by to stay in. I've been there over 14 times in the past five years.

I can recommend Pilanesberg National Park to relax in the nature and the photography. Away from anything. Great place

My suggestion would be April/September cos of the less vegetation on the park, which makes spotting the animals much easier, less heat as well which it is bearable for animals to roam around. And during this time animals... More
