I have done many game drives on Thorneybush and always seen something interesting. Large herds of Cape Buffalo, elephant, giraffe, zebra - but, most exciting of all leopard. On one memorable occasion we saw five separate leopard sightings. One was a large female just starting her evening hunt and we followed her for quite a while before leaving her to... More

We have been fortunate enough to visit Thornybush 3 times and are 5 months away from our next visit. Just can't wait. So what makes this title justified. Well each time we've been we've seen the big 5 and i mean the big 5 which includes black rhino as opposed to white rhino and we've added at least 1 bird... More

Group of three couples on the OAT Ultimate Africa pre-trip. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!! Our guide, Rico, along with tracker, Stanley, was amazing- willing to go the extra mile to give us an extraordinary experience!! Lions, leopard, lots of close-up time with the elephants, etc. Just fabulous!!!

Group visit of 11. Great place and beautiful safari scenery. Great rooms and service PLUS friendly staff and rangers. The food is exceptional. Was my first time to be in the safari and it was the best. It is a must see, must feel and must visit * especially ThornyBush

The Waterside Lodge at Thornybush, next to the Kruger National Park, was undoubtedly the highlight of our holidays in South Africa. Completely set in a natural and wilde environment by a lake with hippos who came out at night walking between the bungalows. We were also surrounded by impalas and pretty monkeys! The accommodation was far more luxurious and personalised... More

Had a wonderful time at River Lodge. Dan and John were great guides and we had really great spots of the Big 5 and others. Also very knowledgable and good fun. Adi's cooking was brilliant too and all staff made a great effort to make our stay memorable. Highly recommend it to anybody looking for a true 5 star experience.

We were taken out twice a day early morning and early afternoon. Take a light sweater with you, it is quite cool at 5:30 in the morning. Sun screen is advisable, a good pair of binoculers and a camera. Listen to the rangers ,they know a lot about the reserve.

We stayed during 4 nights at this parc and made our first game drive accompanied by Jacques and the tracker Eddy. Eddy is sincerely motivated to find the big five for us. During the first drive, we saw elephants, lions and a buffalo. It was amazing!! Jacques explains a lot about the animals and his enthusiasm is contagious. He also... More
