Experience nature’s grandeur at the KwaZulu-Natal National Botanical Garden...

Experience nature’s grandeur at the KwaZulu-Natal National Botanical Garden in Pietermaritzburg. This garden’s Victorian past is evident in its magnificent specimens of northern hemisphere plants. One of the most dramatic features is the majestic avenue of London Plane Trees.

Time out with the family for a picnic, a function perhaps? The Botanical gardens in PMB is the place. Serenity within the city buzz. It's so calming and refreshing. We don't see nature often in our busy schedules so just take the time out to relax in the weekend with your family or hire one of the venues for a... More

Love coming to the Botanical gardens as I can bring my dog for a leisuely walk right round the park feeling safe, stopping off to drift off watching the wildlife by the lake and then taking out a picnic basket lunch on the lawns available. Take what ever you need as the resturant is not really geared for selling takeout... More

Very disappointing. After paying 22 rand entry, the least I would have expected was to have been issued with a simple map of the gardens or be able to pay for a guide book showing the various areas or access to a displayed layout.Nothing of the sort was available and we were left to,our own devices to,walk around. As previous reviewers have... Escape from the bustle of life into the scenic botanical gardens. Perfect for a family get together, picnic, photo shoot or a refreshing mini hike

Great place to have a picnic, plenty space for the kids to run around, great to watch the Caledonian Pipe Band play down between the beautiful old trees and obviously any entertainment is a must to go and visit.

The first time I went there was to take my folks for an outing, it was amazing. The place was clean, the trees well labeled, we had some coffee at the shop afterwards. Recommend it for someone who wants to get out of the city.

After paying R22/head to enter we set off on our walk around the gardens. The most impressive thing about the gardens is the line of trees that welcome you. We then went on a walk up the hill and were left a little disappointed. It looked like it wasn't looked after. A lot of weeds and unfortunately empty coke bottles... More

A really beautiful space. Spectacular in the summer and autumn, but good all year round. I've been several times - I'd advise taking a picnic basket if you want snacks/drinks. There's a restaurant/drinks space, but each time I've been there this hasn't been fully operational. A minimal entry fee applies, which helps maintain the park.
