We spent 4 days in these mountains and saw some amazing panoramas. Each day is so different than the last with the fluctuating weather. There were also many beautiful birds. Many activities are available including hot air balloons, hiking and mountain biking.

We stayed at two different hotels - the Cavern and Champagne Castle with three young kids and two seniors. We couldn't do many hikes but managed to do a few around the Champagne area. We also got 'lost' and found ourselves at the world heritage site! Looking back, all the pictures seem unreal because of its sheer beauty. It was... More

The Drakensberg runs like a spine through the eastern side of South Africa and is one of its many scenic glories. There is access at the southern, central and northern areas. Beautiful.

We are very fortunate to be two hours drive away from the Central Berg, however we have often visited the Northern Berg and Southern region to... More

I have been to the Drakensberg before, but during a week long torrential downpour and we never saw a sign of a mountain. This trip was different, cool, crisp winter mornings, unending views topped with a beautiful blue cloudless South African Sky. Solace for the soul.

The Drakebsberg mountains must be one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in the world and should not be missed when visiting South Africa. Hiked the Amphitheatre via the ladders, and it was absolutely amazing! Quite an accessible slope which does not require immense fitness.
