This used to be a superb museum, a highlight of the Tshwane cultural and museum scene with interactive displays and huge, beautiful spaces, and a great shop, but I feel it is suffering from a lack of budget and of really interested staff. It is extremely difficult to reach by phone, 012 324 6082, and at the moment I would... More

although the displays are interesting and covering a wide spectrum, it is a sad example of the lack of interest and support to our cultural heritage.

We spent several hours browsing the museum. There are several well designed displays, which are all thoughtfully annotated. We saw noone else, except in the popular cafe, where the coffee was excellent.

The museum showcases cultural life of communities living in Southern Africa. But most display rooms were empty; could be I visited in between displays. The Steve Biko display which was the main display, however, stood out. The museum's potential is however being laid to waste, sad to say. The entry fee was ZAR 35.

I am sorry to have to rate this museum so low, as it has a lot of potential, but it is really very disappointing. There are a number of thematic exhibitions the purpose of which seems to be to show what a cultural museum does, but the themes are not clearly stated and the objects are mostly not labelled. There... More

Well its not a wonderful museum but its it not bad, however the place and exhibitions have so much potential. I must have visited the museum in between exhibits or something, but the place needs work as well as visitors.

Given its name, I thought this museum would have more information about the various indigenous tribal groups in South Africa, their traditional dress, customs, etc, but that wasn't the direction it took. It did have a nice exhibit about rock art, but I had just been to the Origins Center in Johannesburg, so it seemed repetitive and not as well... More

Very nice to see but NEVER on a Sunday!!! Different churches take over the place and it gets very loud!!!! Shops are not open on weekends and you cannot buy food or curious. Nice reception. Do it once and have peace!

A place every family should spend some time - the organizers is doing a great job bringing History and Culture alive in their exhibits. Very well presented and the staff friendly.

Thoroughly enjoyed the chinese exhibit - have always have an interest in the terracotta warriors so the day i was able to stand beside the likeness of one in the museum was quite fantastic! Of course the remainder of items on exhibit was fantastic too, simply adored the Artifacts brought across from China_the history behind some of the artifacts being... More
