Not only is this one of the best but the new setting at red barn is awesome. Greatest part about the market is the country feel and live bands softly playing in the background. A must for all as there is something for everyone.

Make sure you visit the right market. We used to go every month to the Irene Market in its old venue at Smuts House. We haven't been back for about a year since the market moved to The Big Red Barn. Today we decided to visit both markets (there has been an attempt to resurrect a market at the original... More

I don't live in this area, and when I do come down, the top of my list, all these years, has been a visit to Irene Market at Jan Smuts House . I loved the vibe, great stalls, wonderful food and generally it was a super outing. And I always walked away spending too much money. But what a disappointment... More

The Irene Market at the Smuts Museum is one of the oldest markets in Pretoria and has remained popular despite many other markets opening around the city in recent years. I have not been to this market for years and found it quite different to what I remembered. Fewer stands and not the variety it was known for. While talking... More

The Irene market at the Big Red Barn is very hard to beat when it comes to choices in food and fare. There is a huge range of stalls offering everything from raw honey, art work, clothing and everything between, and the quality is good. Live music, craft beer, and an excellent choice of foods adds to the vibe of... More

This market was situated in Nelmapius rd some time ago but is now at the Red Barn in Botha ave. Many interesting food stalls from spit braai to jaffles, morrocan, chinese, healthy. Coffee is available at stalls as well as the small restaurant situated at the entrance. I did not even start walking through the rest of the market...there is... More

I have been to many flea markets and this is certainly the Best - It has hundreds of people selling their wares that you would otherwise not see and the setting is idealic. Note: it has moved now to the Red Barn, and the setting there is also awesome, very country!

It was the first time in 10 years I have been back at this unique market and it still remains the number one market in my book. All handmade items are a feast for the eyes, and the food available is a feast! A perfect place to bring your visitors or guests. Kids and dog friendly as well.
