We visited as a family and even our teenagers were enthralled by the displays and the feeling within the grounds. Definitely worth a visit.

The monument suprised me. From the outside it seems like an old building, but from the inside it looks new. You can go all the way to the top and see Pretoria (when the weather is good). In the basement you can find the museum.

There are substantial grounds around the monument but I don't know if pets are allowed in the structure itself. Check the website on that issue.
