To access this attraction we had to walk through a shopping precinct and whilst nothing untoward happened we were told by our guide not to return to this location on grounds of personal safety I was a little uneasy and whilst the views are pretty good Im not sure it was good enough to recommend

Wow I had forgotten what Jozi looked like from the top. The buzz on a Saturday morning on top of the world looking down on a Jozi creation. Reality at its best!

Government needs to consider making this place better as it looks run down only the view is left. And pictures and maps that show what is were could be actually made better. One of the picture frame glass was broken.Well it is worth the price R15 but l wouldn't mind to pay more to see a classy view.Windows need urgent attention as... This is the Carleton Centre. The viewing area is the entire top, 50th floor. This floor is entirely made up of windows so you have a clear 360 degree view of the city and surrounding area. It may be a "dying" building in that the entire first portion is a closed hotel, and there appear to have been several shops... More

It is a bit run down but is really worth the trip up to the 50th floor for the view. My guide described all sorts of things that I would never really have appreciated from the ground view.

This building is in the middle of Johannesburg in a mall you pay a small fee I can't remember how much you take the elevator to the 50th floor and are allowed to walk around and check out the different sides of the building and see what the city looks like in the tallest building in Africa after that you... Good view point of the entire downtown center, gives you an idea of how the city was planned, recommended.

We enjoyed learning about the city from this vantage point too. The layout and contours of the streets are reminiscent of older NE American cities. The 360 degree view puts the communities of the metro area into perspective. On a clear day it seems you can determine the city's growth patterns and potential.

It is always good to know your city, especially if you are viewing it from way above street level. Our grandchildren were amazed that they could travel 50 floors in a lift.
