The once bustling commercial center of Joburg is a pale reflection of its past glory. Buildings are in decay, merchants and businesses have fled to the new suburbs. Street parking is now free, since there is no longer a contract for managing the system. Even so, there are so few cars that parking is not a problem..The long abandoned Carlton... More

Not the most up-market shopping centre in Johannesburg, and a bit neglected on the cleaning and maintenance front, but generally safe and with many clothing and shoe shops displaying the most expensive brands,. Also the usual fast food outlets, banks and CNA. Plenty of affordable parking in the basement (accessed from Main Street), but the lifts from the parking to... More

It's a bit tricky to find the entrance to the tallest building in Africa. View is amazing. You can see whole Joburg from there but it needs a renovation urgently. There's no information about the spots, toilets not working. Outside view is great, inside view is very poor.

Might have been the pride of Johannesburg's CBD, but is definitely outdated and depressing now. Nice views of the city though

Agree that the viewing deck is due for an upgrade and renewal... I had my first view of a large city from the height of 50 floors as a young child. Going back now still left and impact - to get a feel for the bustling inner city of Johburg and get an awesome arial view of the financial hub... More

I do not recommend going to the Top of Africa. I was disappointed by this. Maybe it's nice to get an aerial view but the top is run-down, the restaurant up there is closed. At least it didn't cost much to go up - 15 Rand/$1 USD.
