My Family and I ventured into the city center with little expectations only to be delighted by this oasis of food and culture. The market starts at 10h00 we arrived at about 11h15, which was great as it only started getting busy after 13h00. A wide variety of food on offer. Spend some time walking thru the local works of... I absolutely loved the variety and quality of food, drinks and goods for sale. This place is a lovely example of the diversity and skill we have in South Africa. It's a bit pricey but worth the visit.

The Market on Main is the place to go on Sunday! If you like Neighborgoods Market, then the same vendors and more are here. Good food and worth exploring. Make this a part of you Joburg tour.

We tried all the Johannesburg markets during our two weeks and this one was our favourite. A beautiful space, not as crowded as Neighbourgoods, not as empty and sad as the market at sheds at 1fox, good athmosphere. Upstairs a lot of stalls and shops with art and fashion, downstairs an excellent variety of food. And the market even spreads... More

Spent a few hours here eating good food, watching a group of 3 men perform and buying arts and craft at open stalls

Very easy, pleasant afternoon thing to do. Eat a little, shop a little, drink a little. A nice mix of independent tradesmen and more professional outlets. Exotically Divine was awesome!

Another great place to spend a morning. There are crafts, fashion, food and the unique vibe of different cultures and people. There's great music, unique fashion items and crafts. Go early if you want to avoid the crowds and take time to stroll through all the different stalls before you decide what you want to eat. Most of the stalls... More

Hubby and I recently visited Market on Main in the Maboneng Precinct (in the heart of Jhb's CBD). We were pleasantly surprised. The area is quite safe with plenty visible policing, provided you go at the right time (i.e. when the market is active) and provided you stick to the streets immediately surrounding the market (i.e. don't venture down a... The whole area (Maponeng District) has eclectic little shops and pubs that are worth investigating. I have not done them all, as yet. The Market on Main is housed in an old mill house, downstairs is the food area and upstairs the arts and crafts. The food fare on offer is superb and of such a variety that all tastes... More
