One of the best museums in the country. Good upkeep and the Bloemfontein Street Scene remains an absolute Gem! The Tuck Shop need soem attention but otherwise a really good way to spend a Sunday afternoon

The museum is an eclectic collection of animals, astronomy, local cultures, mining, birdlife and a bit more beside. Worth a visit.

The Museum is very good, a wide range of geology, zoology and history, especially the history of Bloemfontein, birthplace of both NP & ANC and the display on tribes and at on 5 ZAR (£0.35) is a snip. There is a cafe which looked good...More

Enjoyed the very good exhibition exploring South Africa's and the Free State's rich history. Well maintained and definitely worth to visit when in Bloemfontein

This will easily takes up 3 hours of your time if you read all sign boards properly. Very interesting and gives you almost all history about South Africa

The place is well managed and have a lot of surprising features, eg you can try for yourself to pick up an asteroid (remains of a shooting star) that fell in the area; the dinosaur -, space- and Bloemfontein town development exhibitians are also done...More

Visited the museum recently and were so impressed with the way it is kept! Please allow more than an hour for the visit. They also have some interesting displays that are not open to all the public.
