If you in PE for the first time, or if you haven't had a chance to see this monument, this is a must. It's a piece of history that you can experience just by being there!

Feel this is better described as a very small garrison rather than a fort (most houses in the area take up more space). There is no entry charge or staff present. Only one information board to provide historical context and then a quick wander to...More

Visited this fort, but unfortunately closed when we visited middle of the day. Impressive location with a great view over the town and docks. Looked well maintained from the outside.

We arrived 10 minutes after closing time of 3.30 but seems odd for it to be locked up. It is an old fort from which nothing has ever been fired which is a good thing!

There are lovely views from the fort, which itself is quite small. We went on a Sunday and found it was closed on weekends. Previous reviews have said about litter and homeless people being there, but this certainly wasn't the case when we visited -...More

Not much to it. Nice view, and the fort still relatively in good condition. Worth a once off quick visit. There was a security guard at the entrance, so did not feel unsafe, area was clean and tidy. What is lacking, it has so much...More

Although the grounds of this fort were free of litter, we were horrified to see that the amount of litter and broken glass in the central prison structure at the fort. The fort dates back to 1799 and was built to prevent French troops from...More
