Not much to see but part of Plett's history

The remains of these buildings are close to the Lookout Deck and Equinox Restaurants and at the moment there is little to see apart from old stone walls. However, I understand... read more

The ruins of the old wood shed are in desperate need of some attention. It would be amazing to have a fence erected and an info board put up. Still well worth a visit as it ties into the history of Plettenberg Bay.

We discovered this historic gem whilst geo caching in Plettenberg for the weekend. How wonderful to find such an historic building in the middle of the village. The nicest thing was so find that the site had not been vandalised or used by vagrants. The window frames are still in place and the stone work amazing. A truly wonderful find,... More

In most countries this would be a well looked after and cherished monument to the past. Sadly it looks fairly neglected despite its unique contribution to establishing commerce and therefore prosperity in Plett. Pletts oldest building I understand and well worth looking up its history. This was a store for large tree trunks prior to dragging them to the beach... More

Part of the walls are still standing. It will give you a good impression of how it must have been. Outside you'll find an old canon and anchor. Unclear if it is connected to the shed. Unfortunately there was also a lot of garbage inside due to respectless behavior.

This would have been some building in its heyday. Somewhat overgrown now. The rubbish must have been cleared fairly recently, only for another bunch to dump their trash anew. What a shame. Apart from clearing some of the trees away, the building would also benefit from an information panel.

This is just a stone ruin but is very impressive and a nice place to take photos. It was a bit dirty and overgrown. This place would have potential if it was cared for.

The ruins of the old timber shed are worth a visit, for although the structure is now roofless and its floor a tangle of undergrowth, the stone walls are just oozing character and stand testimony to the craft of the stone masons who built it.Fortunately there was no evidence of vagrants living there when I visited the site - maybe... This is a cool piece of history, pitty hobo's are living there as they are accumulting a lot of rubbish. But you can almost see this place from the plettenburg beacon so its worth a stop.

It's rare to find a ruin in the middle of a bustling town, a unique place to take amazing photo's. If you are a amature photographer with a love of the out of the ordinary this is definately the place.
