Our tour to four wineries will be either in a luxury tour coach, or in a luxury SUV depending on the size of the group going out that day.

You may choose to enjoy tastings or bottles of award winning wines. You will receive discounts for tastings and bottles of wine, at some of the wineries. Also, we are the only tour company that allows you to bring your own alcoholic (or nonalcoholic) beverages with you on the bus.

At one of the wineries we will have a picnic, outside next to the grape vines or inside depending on the weather. The picnic is served on linens, includes a personal charquterie board. This includes French bread, gourmet cheeses, hard salami, olive oil with balsamic vinegar, grapes, nuts and chocolates, for each individual person on the tour.

At one of the award winning wineries we will be touring the production facility and barrel room. There we will discuss the wine making process and what it takes to make a cluster of grapes into an award winning bottle of wine.

Let me preface this by saying we love Pillsbury wines. We have been to the Cottonwood tasting room at least a dozen times and have purchased at least 6 bottles on every trip. We were planning on doing this again this week. We were told that due to COVID we had to make a reservation, somethng that none of the other 5 tasting rooms we visited required. When I called at 3 PM to make a reservation for 6 I was told that their only large table was taken and was rreserved again for 5PM. Was told if that group left before 5 she wuld call and we were free to come in. I got a call at 3:50 saying that if we came in we could have the table from 4 to 4:45. By the time we finished at another tasting room and walked over there it was 4:05. We were told that she had given the table to someone else because we were not there exactly at 4. Whe one of the people in our party questioned that she became very defensive and said we were not there in thealloted time and she couldn't hold the table. I was under the impression that she had reserved that table for us when she called. Needless to say we walked out and moved elsewhere where there were less restrictions. I am pretty sure that we will not go back to Pillsbury due to really por customer service and rude behavior by the person in charge.

The staff weren't terribly engaging outside of the few customers who were regulars. This seemed more like a neighborhood bar than a winery. Lots of regulars. Regulars were served in proper glasses. Non-regular customers had to drink their wine in plastic glasses. The chardonnay was good.

The service was so friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. There was no pressure to hurry thru the tasting. We were able to truly enjoy the wines. The wines totally changed my opinion of Arizona wines. They were complex and delightful.

I did a lot of research in advance of coming to the Verde Valley on the wineries, since we drink a lot of wine, buy a lot of wine, and consider ourselves ‘wine tourists’ since we have traveled to specific countries and locations to try and buy their wine. While we love the wine tasting experience itself, we also consider it a shopping trip for our cellar, so we don’t like to waste our time at places with less than stellar wine to take home. Upon all my research, Pillsbury came up several times in wine industry articles and winery award information I found online about this emerging wine area, so I bookmarked it and planned a visit. The tasting is done seated in the downtown tasting room in Cottonwood and they take reservations. We were seated and then served by the most excellent host we’ve potentially ever had in a tasting room. His passion for the wine, the process and industry just exuded from every conversation we had with him as he was pouring the wines, explaining their philosophy and style of wine. He had spent time down in Wilcox at the vineyards and I think this experience enhanced is ability to share insight, which we appreciated. We left with 4 bottles and were quite impressed with the wines coming out of Arizona and pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed them. Their winemaker is definitely doing something great with the grapes, and I would recommend a visit.

My husband and I stayed at the Tavern Hotel and opted for the "Sip and Stay" package. Pillsbury was one of the participating wineries that closed the earliest. We had called for an appointment to taste as soon as we arrived, but was informed that flights/tasting ended at 6pm. After such time glasses could be purchased at a happy hour price. Upon coming in, we were treated as if we were old friends and our tasting was accommodated. We both liked the WildChild Red and WildChild White wines. Overall, we felt the staff was welcoming and made an effort to work with us on short notice.
