We found this accidentally after visiting the near by wineries. What a wonderful place to take a relaxed walk and observe some beautiful birds. We are still trying to identify what we saw. We were surprised at how green the grass was along the path. The trees were huge and very cool to look at. Lots of ducks on the hatchery ponds. We never did figure out what type of fish are here. The paths/hikes are all very well marked.

Sunday Drive to Cornville
Dec 2018 • Family
My family was visiting Arizona and took a day trip to Cornville area. Due to government shutdown, Montezuma's Castle, etc. were not open. We ended up stopping at the fishery. It was interesting and much fun for the younger of our group. We got the fish food from the dispenser and fed fish and ducks (beautiful) outside and then went inside to the tanks. Cheap stop and not too busy.

Nice walk in touch with nature
Oct 2018 • Couples
We were visiting a couple of the area wineries and as we were on our return to Sedona we decided to check out the hatchery. Our walk around the fish ponds showed us many trout large and small along with a lot of birdlife, deer, and native grasses and wild flowers. We enjoyed the 40 minute sidetrack experience.

A Great Nature Walk
Dec 2017 • Friends
While visiting the Cottonwood area on my trip to Arizona. My sister chose this spot as she knows I enjoy bird watching. We walked around the fish ponds, seeing large amounts if ducks. We walked the well maintained nature trail, seeing various species of birds. It was a pretty walk, with parts next to a creek. We had a great time.

TROUT, from small to large
Oct 2017 • Couples
You will find a wealth of information on how trout are raised for release in the local rivers and creeks. Visit the information center and on to the holding tanks. Fish, fish and more fish, wow.

The largest fish hatchery in the state of Arizona!
Jul 2017 • Couples
1 million trout are grown here per year and are distributed into Arizona lakes and streams for sport fishing. The bubbling ponds are used to increase native fish populations that have been decimated or reduced by development. There is also BLACKHAWK NATURE TRAIL. 1.8 miles of meadow and mountain views with many migratory birds and of course, Black hawks!

Gorgeous trail!
Jul 2017 • Friends
I'm so happy I found this trail at the hatchery. Black Hawk trail is right off the pathway and is superb! Tree canopied entryway, cedar lined pathway, marshes, birdwatching and an easy, languid walk for all ages! Perfect for doggies, too! There's also a big covered sitting/eating area and benches along the pathway. Educational plaques that teach about the marshes and creek access (through some bushes, though.)
It's my new favorite spot! I can't wait to go back.
