Thompson pass and Worthington glacier are beautiful any time of year. Winter time is extremely cold. Dress like you don't want to die from hypothermia in 5 mins and you should be ok for interested and a short hike.

My wife and I visited this glacier, located just off the Richardson Highway, during our journey from Anchorage to Valdez as part of our escorted ‘Natural Wonders of Alaska’ tour with Titan Travel. The glacier is located about 28 miles north of Valdez and is within easy access of the Richardson Highway. Our motor coach travelled up a side road leading up to the glacier... More

Years ago this glacier was really close to the road and you can see how it has melted and moved back. It's still a awesome and beautiful place to visit . I love the blue ice and a plus to see on sunny days. It's worth the stop and take pictures

It is such an awesome sight. The glacier meets you on the Richardson Highway with stops to pull off and take pictures.

Hiking this glacier with a guide was one of the highlights of our 3 week June trip to Alaska. Beautiful day and sunny skies lit up the glistening glacier and waterfalls. Blue ice was everywhere. Highly recommend this experience.

The walk to the glacier is pretty easy and gives you great views of the glacier and country side. You can walk right up to it and touch it.

Whilst possibly not the most spectacular of glaciers it has to be one of the most accessible and it costs nothing. There is are information boards at the viewing area, but to get right up to the toe of the glacier one has to pick your way over the moraine. This is not a a graded path so may not... More

We went to the glacier with our family which includes 2 younger children. The hike up to the glacier took about an hour and it was worth it! It was beautiful and a great experience for the whole family. The park includes areas to view the glacier without taking the hike if you are not able. It's worth a stop... More

This was a nice, convenient place to vistit on the way to Valdez. It was raining quite hard and I would not recommend hiking to the glacier in those conditions. The views are excellent and the waterfalls next to the glacier and beautiful when there is hard rain.
