The beach is great, and the snorkeling was good. But you'll never have as good of snorkeling from a sandy beach as you will from an off-shore dive over the reef. More importantly, I discovered great taxi service provided by Thierry ("Jerry") Nauta. I had...More

Absolutely beautiful beach. There are no amenities here so be prepared to bring a towel to sit on. There is a covered area but no chairs. The water is so beautiful here that you probably will want to just stay in for the duration of...More

The beach was nice but quite narrow by our Florida standards. Still very nice and not crowded at all considering this is the only public beach on Bora Bora.

Matira Beach is the main public beach on Bora Bora we were advised - so I guess that's true. It's your typical broad-bay beach - white sand stretching several hundred metres between two island points. We grew up on the east coast of Australia which...More

This is a great public beach with bathroom and shower facilities. There are also a couple of good restaurants in walking distance. You may want to bring water shoes as the coral/rocks can be a bit painful. It is a good place to watch sunset.

We visited Matira Beach on the weekend and on a weekday. There were a few more people on the weekend but lots of space and no feeling of a crowd. The sand is white and clean, the water clear and it is a public beach!...More

Very nice beach with a few places to eat along the beach. Many spots to enter the water or just grab a tan. One can head out pretty far and be in waist deep water. As with all spots in Bora Bora, I felt safe...More

Matira beach is about a 10minute scooter ride from the dock area. Le Bus travels there as well but we rented a scooter and rode around the island and had a nice swim at the beach in 2hours. We stopped here on Celebrity Solstice so...More

We were able to go to this beach twice. At the most maybe 10 people were on the beach at any given time. This is a beautiful beach, the color of the water is impossible to describe. The water is crystal clear. The water is...More

We were in Bora Bora at the Beautiful and Fabulous Conrad. The concierge at the Conrad told us this is a MUST on our list of restaurants. My husband is a four star French chef and his mouth was watering from the food at this...More

Is Matira Beach a short walk from where the tender dock for Paul Gauguin cruise is? Otherwise, are there taxis? And what is the cost if known. Thanks

I can't speak to that specific cruise. However, the restaurant is a significant drive from the waterfront in town. Cabs are available, and the restaurant will often offer to pick you up for a reservation.
