Byers Lake is about 50 miles north on the Parks highway from the "Y" where the Talkeetna Spur road intersects it, and 32 miles north of Trapper Creek, the closest real town where you can stop and eat or get gas if you're heading north. It has a great campground with public bathrooms and several cabins which can be reserved... More

My wife and I saw Byers Lake from the air as we flew with Era Helicopters on their Glacier Landing Tour during our 'Natural Wonders of Alaska' tour with Titan Travel in May 2016. We were staying for 2 nights on a room only basis at the Grande Denali Lodge Hotel, Denali. The Glacier Landing Tour was an optional excursion... More

We went on a guided walk around Byers Lake as an optional extra, while staying at McKinley Princess Lodge. It was raining at the lodge, but perfectly fine at Byers. There were only six people on the walk as well as our guide Leah. She was 23, born and raised in Alaska, very knowledgeable and a lovely young woman. The... More

What a hidden gem. The day we were there, there was a small family with kids canoeing. The weather was crystal clear and the lake was in perfect mirror form. The fall colors were beginning to peak. Absolutely beautiful.

I first have to say we really like camping in Alaska. We live here it's what we do. But, If you're from the lower 48 and have no experience camping here in AK.... Please NOTE: Camping here is NOT fancy. Most State Parks and the National Parks DO NOT have concrete pads for your $500,000 rigs. This parks is beautiful!..

Great flat hike around the lake. Disappointing that the bridge was closed or we would have made it to the summit of the Cascade trail. Adds an extra 2 or so miles to the hike

This was the only disappointing hike of those we took in Alaska due to extremely muddle trial conditions. Slogging just wasn't fun. However, the lake is beautiful if you are able to hike during drier weather.

We kayaked around the lake and enjoyed the pristine environment, awesome views, and clean fresh air. We enjoyed the seeing the trumpeter swan, beaver dams, salmon as they reach the end of their lifecycle and their fry as they grow in the safety of the lake until they are ready to go back to the ocean.
