The bay area has had a lot of money spent on it and it is a really nice place to visit. A great boardwalk to wander along, the skateboard area is very popular and great play areas for children. Wonderful place for families.

Walked with a group of friends. Lovely boardwalks with amazing sea and mountain views. Safe swimming beach in the summer. Free carnival at Christmas and New Year. Dogs allowed on beach during the winter months. Wonderful children's play area. Amazing Rose Garden and bird aviary....More

Green open space with so much to do for the family which includes the beach. We walked down the stairs and enjoyed the man-made waterfall. Playpark was good for the kids and enjoyed the aviery.

Not only amazing views of seater but well set out with great playground for children.Lovely gardens etc and so close to town. Will always visit when in Timaru to visit family

Nice to visit Sandy beach, free Avery the carnival is good for the kids, the board walk is stunning, can get wheelchair on it, toilet on the beach.

Yes. its all to do with extra sand arriving on the beach. It being sheltered by the harbour breakwater the sand settles there rather than being swept north
