This is a hard one to write a review for as I have so many mixed emotions. The best thing I can do is talk about the good and bad and let travellers make up their own minds.

The funicular ride was very enjoyable, as was the cable car itself. The view down on to the forests is wonderful and the summit view is even more spectacular as I was lucky with the weather. Some of the architecture at the top was also very nice.

The noise on arrival at the station was too much. I was forced to listen to tacky saxophone “jazz” Blaring from loudspeakers while I was queueing and this made the whole experience more like a theme park and I didn’t appreciate it. I was disappointed by the plastic flowers and fake trees used to embellish what otherwise would be a lovely ornamental garden. The summit was also very crowded and this meant I didn’t really want to linger as I was being jostled and bumped by others wanting to take snaps of the triangulation point at the summit itself.

For my time in Sapa, Fansipan summit was regularly shrouded in cloud. Ticket prices are expensive and I can’t imagine paying such fees with no view would be worthwhile at all. In a nutshell, this is a sightseeing trip as opposed to an experience. Some will enjoy it, but it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea.

Beautiful scenic train ride to the mountain top and pagodas. Fantastic time, very peaceful. Nobody trying to force you to buy stuff and no tacky attempts to jazz up Mother Nature. Note that “taking the stairs” to reach the summit is not for the faint of heart or those who are out of shape - it is a full cardio workout! The peak is nothing short of amazing; one of the highlights of the trip to Sapa.

The views on top of Fansipan are amazing and the mountain is staggering. It is definitely worth the trip to see this! I would put 5*s for the mountain itself, but the sun world experience was a little less impressive...

We had debated hiking the mountain, but having completed a two day trek previously we decided to get the cable car instead. The queuing system was non-existent and we probably spent nearly two hours waiting (being pushed and shoved) in line to get on the cable car up to the top, with no information or no prevention of queue jumpers. As two adults, it was frustrating, but there were families with young babies and children, so much more organisation is needed to ensure everyone's safety.
Luckily the way down was much calmer and we were able to enjoy the views.

At the top of the mountain, the views are amazing and the temples are impressive. We climbed to the top, but you can get a funicular if you want to. The steps were fairly steep and it was difficult negotiating the other tourists who climb slower or stop midway - especially those who suddenly realise climbing in stilettos or sliders isn't the best idea! At the top, everybody is taking photographs and getting close to the sign is difficult - if we had hiked, we would have been very frustrated by this.

Overall, the sunworld tourist aspect was very poorly managed, but the views and mountain are worth it.

Probably the most civilised to get to the top of Fansipan and to enjoy the fantastic views! Even more civilised is to stay at the Hotel de la Coupole!!

Don't miss a chance to enjoy the stunning, exceptional, mysterious view of Hoang Lien Son from above through the 6km-cable car trip. A visit to Fansipan peak - top of Indochina at 3143m really worths your money. If you want to have the best view from the top, I recommend you to visit this place at noon.

Fortunately I come to Fansipang on the sunny day but it will better if more cloud on the top
Served lunch at Van Sam restaurant with the promotion follow ticket
Recommend come to Fansipang at the afternoon because it won’t be crowded and can watch the fire sunset

I'm sure the view would have been beautiful if it wasn't for the bad weather. We went in December. Took the funicular train to the top as it was too windy and very wet. It's a great experience though! Would go again during another season to see the beautiful scenery.

We were in the heaven! It’s recommended to go in the afternoon to enjoy full scenario under sun. Words can not describe all of this beauty. Wonderfull Vietnam, amazing Sapa!

Would like to say big thank to Sun Group- the investor who brought to people the chance to enjoy that beauty! Great work, unbelievable!

The most disappoint thing is poor guidance boards as well as lacking of staff support during all the journey from the main station to the top of the mountain and back! It’s a pity!

We hiked up the mountain and took the cable car back down because the rain washed us out. The cable car is really expensive. It was 750,000 VND per person (though I'm seeing reviews of people who paid more...hmmm...tour guide cut?) Anyway, the top of the mountain is almost always fogged in. But, even if your views from the top are not breathtaking like in the pictures in other peoples' reviews, don't worry. You'll have views of waterfalls and mountains and it will still be worth it. But, again, it's expensive and Sun Group does everything they can to suck every dollar, dong, etc. out of your pocket!!

I'm a bit resentful because there's actually no one-way ticket. We'd been rained off the mountain (we camped the night before) but had to pay full round-trip price to go down the next morning. Alas.

We took the 1st funicular to sapa station and the cable car from there, we decided not to take the 2nd funicular to the top of fansipan but to climb the remaining 600 steps to the top and as a young couple this was fine for us with a little effort.

We came in July 2020 on a Wednesday around 11pm and it was a breeze, everything running smoothly no queuing or waiting around and everything is very well organised and clear. With borders still closed Sapa is still very quiet however and I imagine when things return to normality it would be much busier here!

The views from the cable car were breathtaking, unlike anything I have seen before and this is why I would highly recommend doing this excursion. Although it is expensive in my opinion we felt there was no better way to get such an amazing Birdseye view of this incredible place, if you don’t mind spending the money it is definitely worth it!

At the top is was fairly cold in July and completely clouded so you couldn’t see anything other than the statues and monuments at the top, but it was still nice to feel accomplished and have a walk round in the cool air. I would recommend bringing something for your ears as the wind can be quite harsh. We climbed in shorts and a jumper for when we reached the top and it was fine.

I had friends that did do the trek to the top instead with a guide in around 6-7 hours, but we really enjoyed the whole experience of the cable car.
