Small but perfectly formed.

A very good small museum with lots of newish photo info boards showing lots of info on the local groups who live around the area. Clothing, artifacts etc - the embroidery and clothe preparation areas particularly good. There is a large gift shop on the ground floor, and most of it looks really good even to my untutored eyes. As to prices, it depends I guess on what your comparison is, and your budget.

Sapa, the 6 tribes & embroidery!
Dec 2019 • Solo
Located in the upper floor of a 2-storey wooden house, where ground floor was a souvenir and handicraft shop and a supposedly Tourist Info Center but no one at the counter.

Fair amount of exhibits and posters.

I am very much into fabrics like the hemp, brocade and embroidery, so was especially thrilled to find the information on the tribal embroidery culture. If you’re into buying some souvenirs of embroidery and brocade products, suggest you read up some exhibits here regarding different patterns from the various tribes.

Note: the souvenir shop below the museum has very good quality products but they are not the cheapest, I would not buy from here.

We were brought here by our guide on day 2. Since we had done some trekking to see villages of the Red Dao and Blue Hmong, we could appreciate more of the the information presented here. Nice gift shop located here too which show cases some decent craft.

Interesting museum

Here you can learn a lot about the minority groups in Sapa. Free of charge. Small but a lot of information. Mostly photos and texts, in English, French and Vietnamese.

dusty reading
Nov 2019
few objects, few dusty desks, and many panels to read (Vietnamese, French, English) in the upper floor of a building located up from the tourist center. on the groundfloor it is a large shop selling ethnic minority products (mainly textiles). no big thing, but on a cold and fugly day one of very few things you can do in Sapa.

A cultural experience
Nov 2019 • Couples
An interesting small museum. We learnt more here about the culture and history of the local tribes than anywhere else and there were some really interesting facts. We wouldn’t have known it was there if not mentioned by the staff in local tourist office. It is free and definitely worth a visit when in Sapa.

A small interesting museum
Nov 2019 • Friends
We went there with a group of local students and it was an interesting place. We already knew a lot about ethnic groups in the past and now in Sapa: their traditions, culture and locations. There were good maps. In addition we were amazed about the information about the daily life of local people. We knew a lot but we would recommend it for tourists to come to Sapa Museum and explore it. The museum helps them to have a better understanding of people and culture in Sapa.

A little museum but outstanding exhibitions. Extremely fascinating to find out about the area individuals. Does not take much time, along with entry that is free, so worth a trip in case you've the time.

Informative
Jun 2019 • Solo
It was hard to find and when I was there I was the only visitor. No ticket needed but they had a donation box in the exhibition room. The museum was upstairs of a shop that sells traditional products. The building was behind another building if you come from the main road, so keep looking and you will find it. There was a sign. Since I was there alone it was a little creepy with all the old stuffs and dim light but the explanation signs were very informative. If you want to learn more deeply about Sapa and its people this museum is a good place for you.

Small museum, just ok.

Hard to find, right at the back of the tourist information complex up a flight or two of stone steps.
A small collection of exhibits with displays with photos with captions, in Vietnamese, French and English although the English translation is incomplete in some cases. Some of the old maps are poorly reproduced and illegible.
It's worth a look if the weather acts up and it's free.
