Beautiful hike through gorgeous country. Steep at beginning but gradual climb on rest of hike. At any time, you can easily turn around and go back. Highly recommend if you are on a cruise boat and wish to do a hike. Can either have a...More

We did a private tour with Gastineau Guiding that took us along Perseverance Trail, but you don't really need a guide, the trail is well marked.. We did a nice 6.5 mile hike. Moderately strenuous, definitely better than the standard cruise option of sitting for...More

My husband and I did some of the Perseverance trail one afternoon. It has really lovely valley views. Make sure you wear a hat, as you're in full sun most of the time.

Loved this trail. The hardest part is the beginning. It gets prettier and prettier. Any local can tell you how to get here. It's pretty easy. On the way back we took the high trail, it forks off on the left side and goes up...More

As most will tell you the hardest part of the hike is getting up the hill from town. There are multiple options that shoot off of the trail like Mount Juneau or Roberts, Glory Hole. Mount Juneau being the hardest and as of this writing...More

We enjoyed the Perseverance trail and took the spur to the Glory Hole outlook. Challenging and exhilarating. Beautiful views of the mountains, creek and waterfalls.

Pretty easy, well groomed, out and back trail without a lot of elevation change. Scenic views of the surrounding mountains with multiple bridge river crossings. You pass the remains of the old mining operation too.

The trail is about a mile and a half uphill from downtown. You pass the Mt. Roberts trailhead and continue another half mile to begin the hike, run or mountain bike trail. The trail offers scenic mountain and waterfall views and offers information on the...More

Hiking boots are fine but good athletic shoes will work on a dry day. The trail is packed dirt, gravel, rocks so nothing too slippery or in stable. Have fun!

Yes, I hike it several times a week during the summer months, sometimes in pouring rain. Although there are steep drop offs to one side of the trail between the overview and the junction with the Mt Juneau trail, the trail... More

The hike is free. You might want to take a taxicab to the trail head, since it's an uphill walk from downtown Juneau and you probably want to spend that time walking through the woods, rather than around offices and houses... More
