Now this is a VERY expensive tour for 3 hours and I was charged an addition $250 USD for being over a certain weight, so total cost was over $1400 AUD. That aside this tour was in my top 2 tours I did via the Carnival cruise. Bucket list stuff, save up and just do it!

My experience was great, very professional setup and company. The views are incredible on the flight, 3 helicopters flying in tandem over glaciers to the dog sledding camp. I was lucky to get the front seat. There is a small side window you can open and poke your camera lens through, so you don't have to shoot through glass, a fast shutter speed is a must!

The dog-sledding was heaps of fun and such an amazing feeling to be so remote on top of the glacier with incredible views around. The dogs are sooo excited, they just love it. The guide was very passionate and informative about his dogs.

Only minor negatives beside cost, it was rather rushed back at the camp, not much time to pat the dogs and no puppies to hold. This was the last flight of the day and it felt like the staff/pilots were keen to wrap up the day.

We were presented 5x7"photography prints to buy from a local staff member taking photos of us on the dog sleds. Unfortunately they were very underexposed but were still asking USD $30.00.
I feel the prints should be included in the overall price.

Our pilot Corey went through all the safety training that we would expect. He told us to ask questions whenever we wanted to, but he let us know that he might not be able to answer them because he would always be in contact with other pilots or the ground crew. We were paired with another helicopter and that pilot really showed us around the glacier and told us where we should go to see things.
Being on the glacier is quite an exciting thing to do. We were able to walk around and see various different aspects of the glacier. It is a really fun adventure if you get the chance to do this while visiting Juneau.

We took the helicopter ride over the ice fields to Herbert Glacier. Landed on the glacier and hiked around. They supply the clampon shoe covers so that was helpful.
Learned a lot, the scenery was spectacular and we came away wanting to do that again - with a longer hike!

This was the trip of a lifetime. Easy to book. Good communication. Everything worked like clockwork. Unlike the other helicopter tours who seem to move in packs we were the only helicopter on the glacier. It was peaceful amazing I rushed and an experience we will never forget. This was worth every penny of the cost!

What was a great excursion, at first, turned for the worse at the end. Coastal helicopters put seven lives in danger while getting me, my husband and five others off Herbert Glacier from the dog sled tour. They rushed things when the weather turned bad. Poor decisions were made by Coastal and our helicopter crashed! With all the luck in the world, all seven of us walked away with minor injuries. Coastal should have known the risks and kept us on the ground until the weather cleared up. I’m putting this review here so others are aware of the risks. Coastal was more concerned about returning us to their headquarters quickly rather than safely! Currently, we haven’t received an apology from Coastal. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

I would like to formally apologize for the experience you had with us while on the tour and express that we are all deeply sorry for the incident at the conclusion. We are working closely with the federal authorities to investigate the incident. Derrick Grimes Tour Manager

Could not speak more highly of this company. From booking online to our drop off back in downtown Juneau. We initially booked the dog sled tour but unfortunately the camp closed due to snow conditions, we were contacted and given options to cancel, or do a less expensive tour, we choose to do the alternative tour and were refunded the difference very promptly. All correspondence was professional and precise. we were collected at the cruise terminal on time transported to the airfield, weighed in, outfitted and briefed and then we were up up and away soaring over the magnificent scenery. We landed, took a stroll on the glacier our pilot took photos of us, we drank from a glacial stream and enjoyed the silence. I would highly recommend this company and tour as it was definitely the highlight of our Alaskan cruise. Well worth the money.

I didn’t book online as I was not sure about the weather in May....once we docked in Juneau we just went up to the kiosks selling excursions & booked the helicopter ride directly. The Coatal guys picked us up from the Main Street corner & drove us to the airfield. First we were outfitted with boots, then a mandatory safety video, locking our valuables in a box all done very efficiently we were then taken out to the airfield to wait our turn. There were 6 of us on the plane & I was lucky enough to score a front seat next to the window with my husband in the seat behind me & this was our first time on a helicopter. Needless to say but truly amazing !
We touched down on the Herbert glacier & spent some time walking on it, clicking pictures & marvelling at the stunning vistas all around....the flight was thrilling in itself, flying by the Mendelhall glacier, the snow covered mountains & the mighty ocean this was a dream come true.
The Coastal guys were professionals& the experience a lot of fun !

Thanks for the excellent review! Waiting to book until your ship arrives is a great way to seek out some better pricing options than you'll see in the days leading up to your port call. Sometimes we're all booked out, but, as in your case, some days we have space! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your first helicopter experience so much, and that you got such nice pictures! Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with the community! Derrick Grimes Tour Manager

Although this was a bit expensive, I really wanted to walk on Mendenhall Glacier. I was not disappointed. The helicopter ride to the glacier was my first & fabulous. Before we left everyone was given a bottle of water. Once we arrived on the glacier they had us empty out all the water. Hmmm what's going on here. They then walked us over to a running stream & had us fill up our bottles with glacier water. OH MY!!! If you have never tasted fresh glacier water you have no clue what REAL water actually tastes like. AMAZING. If I go back to Alaska I will definitely spend the money & do this again. You MUST try this, if you can.

We had pre-booked a tour through the cruise line. When we fronted up to go on it, we were told it had been cancelled. We walked around the corner and there was a billboard saying "Glacier landing and dog sledding tour". Monty from Panhandle Tours booked us on a Coastal Helicopters tour which, I might add, was $100 cheaper than the one which had been cancelled! It was wonderful. We flew over Mendenhall Glacier and landed on Herbert Glacier. We then went on a dog sledding ride behind fourteen beautiful dogs. The love between them and their musher, Jimmy, was tangible. It was one of the best experiences of my life.

Thanks for sharing your review with us! Perseverance can definitely pay off with tours up here, and it sounds like you came out on top! Offering our tours directly, or through vendors and booking agents allows us to keep costs a bit lower on an already expensive tour, which means more guests can participate and spread the good word about our experiences! Jimmy is a long time musher with us, and you're right on the nose when you point out the love and care he has for his team, and any of the animals he works with at the camp, I'll be sure to pass along your praise. Thank you for the great review! Derrick Grimes Tour Manager

For our excursion we did the Glacier and Dog Sledding trip through Coastal Helicopters. Pricey at $550 a person but well worth it. We were lucky we had hats, gloves, fleece and rain coats as it was very cold. The helicopter ride was smooth and amazing to look at all the scenery. Dog camp was awesome and everything was very professional and informative. We even got to play with puppies. The van driver even took us out of the way on the way back to see so many bald eagles it was amazing. Highly recommend this once in a lifetime experience. On and off ship was easy and everything ran smoothly.
