Mendenhall Glacier (棉田豪冰河) is a glacier about 13 mi (20.9 km) long, 0.5 mi (0.8 km) wide and up to 1,800 ft (549 m) deep. It is located in Mendenhall Valley, about 12 miles (19 km) from downtown Juneau (朱諾) in the southeast area of Alaska, USA. Juneau is the capital of Alaska. My husband and I stayed in Juneau two days prior to our fishing trip and spent one morning at Mendenhall Glacier. The park is beautiful and we were able to see bears and salmon close up. Unfortunately, the trail to Nugget Falls was closed when we were there, due to flooding. We really wanted to hike out closer to the... More

I was expecting a lot more from the Mendenhall Glacier excursion I joined through Holland America. GREATLY disappointed by the Mendenhall Glacier. I found it utterly underwhelming. You basically go and get a picture of the glacier, and then go up to the presentation centre for a brief 15 min movie to kill some time before the bus comes back... More

It is such a great experience to view the glacier from close distance with water streams falling from under ice glacier in to the lake. Need to be here to feel the enchantment. Again great experience if you come across a wolf and fish being caught by upstream straight into their mouth. Having seen both New Zealand and Alaskan glaciers,... More

Very easy and short walk to this beautiful Glacier and Waterfall. The walk is very peaceful and the air is fresh. some trails are paved. Can be a bit cold. Bring a windbreaker or light jacket. Couple viewpoints you might want to stop and take pictures.

My wife and I went to a cruise and we took a tour to this glacier. Wow! The view is so amazing. Excellent for landscape photos and to enjoy nature. It's a must go if you visit Alaska.

We went here when we were on our cruise to Alaska with our family. My wife stayed behind with her mom, but I took the kids to a shuttle there (not through the cruise line). You can see the glacier from the ranger station, but to get to the actual glacier is about a 1 to 1 1/2 mile hike.... More

There are so many things to do around glacier. Always wanted to go on the glacier, but did not have enough time for that. I wish I could do this one day. It is a pity that glacier is getting smaller by years-global warming. But the trail by the glacier and all those waterfalls... Place can be very romantic, but... More
