Went here because of reviews .All I can say is As Advertised. Alaska did a fantastic job with all the exhibits. The agent at the front desk gave us all the time in the world and you can tell he loves his job. They also have nice hiking trails outside. Definitely a must see.

The center was a great way to learn about the Homer area and the work being done to protect the environment of southwest Alaska. Excellent movie in the auditorium- not to be missed. The exhibits were very well done.

A quick visit to learn about the area and the islands. Nice exhibit to walk thru, maybe 15 minutes and a small gift shop. A rather easy walking trail to the tidal area. Since this was September 12, 2016, most of the birds were gone. Good for a family.

First of all, it's a great facility with very informative content. Secondly, it's free, which is special itself nowadays (it's operated by the federal government.) A nice place to spend a couple of "down" hours while in Homer

Islands and Ocean Visitor Center is a gem and a must-see in Homer! It's free, perfect for families, and has many interactive exhibits. There is an interesting 14 minute film about the work of biologists and their efforts to preserve wildlife habitats. You can take a short hike along the trail to the shore.
