We were on an Oceana cruise of French Polynesia thru Go Next tours. Someone that we met on Moorea (Blank) was also on Bora Bora - getting customers for Alberts rentals - scooters, bikes, cars - and Albert's Pearl Shop. He recommended Mata Tours for a tour of the island by boat and snorkeling. We spoke with Mata's wife and... More

While we (4) booked a ½ day tour with Mata a month before our arrival and met with him timely at the dock, we nonetheless had to wait over an hour while he tried to round up more people from the cruise ship to go on his tour. We booked with Mata due to good reviews on Trip Advisor and... More

So, we went to French Polynesia on a cruise, this is really the only way a middle class earner can reach this area of the world. As usual, when we arrived the port (it was Bora Bora), we avoided the overpriced shore excursions arranged by the ship, and walked out of the ship, and talked to different vendors, among them... We are four very able seniors, and were with Stephan in 2010,we will be there again in Oct. this year, but cannot contact them at all, that was one of the very best tours we have ever had and we are very well travelled, 15 + cruises so we have seen and done many but this was exceptional, and that is... The stops in Raiatea by cruise ship were always short then eventually RCCL stoped going to this port on the cruise I took annually. This particular time we had time to do a tour so I knew exactly where to find Stephan I made a b-line for him in the tourist hut. He is down to earth, warm and kind... More

Seriously. You want to take a trip with Mata because he does an excellent job of being an entertaining, informative, safety-conscious tour guide. But it certainly doesn't hurt that his winning personality is wrapped in a handsome exterior. We chose to book with Stephane/Mata when he greeted our cruise ship in port because he seemed like the right combination of... More

Stephan of Mata Tours filled our 6 hour tour with fun, adventure, and Raiatea and Taha'a history. We visited a pearl farm and showroow, learning how the black Tahitian pearls are created. We also visited a vanilla plantation with gorgeous flowers and shrubs. Snorkeling was the highlight at 3 fantastic sights: floating with a small current over a coral passage... More

We contacted Stephan (Mata Tours) with three other couples prior to our cruise to Raiatea and made arrangements. We met him in the large port building at the dock and waited a few minutes to see if he could get others for the tour. He had no luck so the fortunate eight of us headed off in his nice speedboat....
