Best Beach? Not sure, but it's worth a visit

We stayed at the Sofitel so we used this beach for a walk a time or two on our stay. I don't know if it's the best beach on Moorea, but it might be one of the best. Def need... read more

Supposed to be the best beach on the island....but it was dirty and not the least bit nice. Moorea just does not have great beaches....beautiful scenery but don't come for the each experience.

Don't be fooled by the beautiful white sand. When you get close to the beach it's all jagged coral sand. We sat on the grass and there were broken bottles all over, so be careful. The water was very warm which was nice.

We stayed at the Sofitel so we used this beach for a walk a time or two on our stay. I don't know if it's the best beach on Moorea, but it might be one of the best. Def need water shoes. The snorkeling to the left side of the beach is supposed to be fantastic, but we didn't try... More

There are only a couple public beaches on Moorea and this is the largest. Public access is a gravel road off the main road. We visited it while driving a scooter around the island, and the access road was very bumpy. On the day we visited, there were lots of locals enjoying the water. It's good for swimming but not... Bring reef shoes as you need to walk over coral before reaching the sandy part for swimming. No fish in the public beach part so no need to bring your snorkel gear. Sofitel is next door otherwise limited amenities. Very scenic for taking nice pictures.

Pro: We were 5 out of the 10 on the entire stretch of beach (early March) Plenty of tropical almond trees to sit under for shade. Stingrays were here and there Not so great for snorkeling but great for swimming/sunbathing Con:No facilities that we saw.

We lived in a bungalow 500 yards from this beach, so we had to drive by it every day, looking for a better beach, but didn't find one. Yes, the road to the beach is very bumpy, as it rattles your teeth, but you are on the right road. Look for the sign "plage de 'teme". No concessions there, except... More

Big amazing beach, crystalline water, free access, white sand. Don't miss it! We went there twice: the first time many locals were there to enjoy the sun, the second time the beach was empty because some storms were approaching. We had our most beautiful swim, as we were alone, in the blue water, under a dramatic sky. Amazing

This is the MOST beautiful public beach in all of Moorea. We have driven around the whole island and visited all the public beaches and accesible beaches, and hands down this is the most idyllic beach. With white sand and the most clearest blue waters (thanks to the color of the sand underneath). You can swim towards the Sofitel and... More
