We were warmly welcomed by Martin Buser himself (4-time Iditerod champion), and by all the dogs at their kennels, too. Martin's son Rohn (also a musher like his dad) and one of their racing dogs gave a demonstration of how a sled dog is dressed for the trail.

We had great time with four-times Iditarod champion Martin Buser at Happy Trails Kennel. The tour was very informative, we learned a lot about dogs and Iditarod race. And puppies are so cute of course :)

The minute you meet Martin Buser you realize why this place is called "Happy...". He is passionate about everything he does, from being a 4x Iditarod Champion to raising Iditarod dogs to educating people about how special this sport is to making this a family adventure. I enjoyed learning about the sport, seeing the dogs, learning the role of a... More

This is a must stop if you are interested in learning about how Iditarod sled dogs are trained. Martin Buser does a great tour, introduces you to the dogs and takes time to answer all your questions.

This is a great place to learn about the Iditarod and the dogs. You should budget about 2 hours for this. We were a family of 5 and enjoyed the entire visit. Highly recommend this hands on, interesting, and informative trip.

This was a stop on the land portion of our Regent Cruises tour. It turned out to be one of our favorites! The owner and staff were universally friendly and welcoming. They clearly enjoy their work, and love showing off their beautiful sled dogs. We saw an informative film, spoke with one of the "mushers" who has raced the Iditarod,... More

My husband and I were on a tour of Alaska and were lucky enough to be brought to the Happy Trails Kennel. This stop is a fun place full of happy dogs, puppies, and people. You get to meet Martin Buser, a 4-time Iditarod Champion & 5-Time Seppala Award Winner for Best Dog Care, and his son. Mr. Buser was... More

While groups would find this stop very worthwhile, another option is a private visit which is even better and gives opportunity to have a relaxed visit with Iditarod champion Martin Buser and his wife Kathey. Delightful and warm people. We had a delicious meal at their home, viewed an informative film on the races, held puppies, visited the kennel. All... More

We enjoyed getting the inside scoop on Iditarod racing. We have done a bit of dogsledding, but these dogs were different- being bred for speed! We enjoyed learning about training for the race, the care of the dogs both before and during the race, and loved the 8 day old puppies. Lots of inside knowledge that we would never know!
