A lot of people recommended the park since we were staying at a hostel close by. It was quite underwhelming. We walked around the artificial lake which was nice in some places and ugly and unfinished in some places. Nothing else much to see here.

This park is quite big and obviously made for everyone to use - it offers trees and green that you are allowed to walk on, benches to sit, playgrounds, and for the sportif ones who like to run also some trails of different lengths (up to 6km). You also feel safe as it is open and there are always people... More

Did a quick 4 mile run around the park along the streets. Felt completely safe. Lots of other runners were out too. Didn't see the interior of the park which is probably nicer. Right next to Hilton Garden Inn.

Space in San Jose is precious, but here they used it to create a park which in itself is quite an achievement. I wonder why they chose for such large areas without trees and access for cars. Is it because of the fact they were used to a flat landing strip for planes, or because it is easier to control... More

San Jose, Costa Rica is not one of the must see world capital. Parque la Sabana is an attempt to add green space and recreational areas. It is centrally located in a city where directions and signage are not easy to find.

La Sabana is a large park where visitors can jog, play soccer, ride boats on the small lake, ride horses, or play on children's toys. The area is nice, safe and quite visited, especially on weekends, but they have not invested in maintenance. It is difficult to find a garbage can, facilities need a fresh coat of paint, sidewalks are... More

Go on Sundays for a run, or just a walk to observe local life. Or even better, gather som friends and go for a BBQ!

The park has s small lagoon surrounded by some sculptures. The rest of the park is open green space. Good for a walk or run.

The park is huge. On sunny weekends it's full of Tico families and couples enjoying the landscape, strolling, cooking out, etc. If your only experience with San Jose is centro (downtown) you will see another side to San Jose here.
