When you approach the building from the street, you have the right to fell you are in the wrong place. It just doesn't feel like an attraction when you arrive, In fact, the actual butterfly garden is small with limited species on display. Perhaps the butterflies on display depend on the season of your visit. The area is certainly pleasant... More

After touring the opera house this was a nice break. You need not spend all day here as it is not that large but still a relaxing time. The Butterflies are eating while others are resting with still more flying in front of you. If you can be there when it is not too crowded with a tour it would... More

Quite close to the centre of San Jose, and very unexpected, the Spirogyra Butterfly Garden was a lovely couple of hours spent away from the noise and traffic and the city hustle and bustle. Family built and still owned, it has some beautiful butterflies, some turtles and a great display of pupae.

We stopped by for a tour on a sunny morning and thoroughly enjoyed all the butterflies. The butterflies are most active when the sun is out, so I wouldn't recommend this tour if it's raining, as the roof is made of netting. We were impressed by the variety of butterflies present. You are loaned a butterfly identification guide and a... More

I had the pleasure of visiting this place and rather enjoyed the beautiful ambience of the contemplation path as well as all of the butterflies and information.

Tucked away and a quick walk from the central area. Very worthwhile. Lots of great butterflies up close and personal. One note: wear you Natrapel...got my first mosquito bites while visiting here. Well worth the time and money.

However, we did see the famous blue butterflies:) The garden is pretty and probably later in the year there are more butterflies but we saw enough to be happy.

Many varieties of butterflies, which were very active when the Garden just opened, in a small jungle-like setting. We came just before feeding time. Knowledgeable staff answered our questions. Very pleasant.
