This stunning museum tells the entire story of early Costa Rican culture, from pre-columbian to the arrival of the Spanish. While it does have lots of pre-columbian jade artifacts and a few in gold, , the dioramas, pottery, tools...wonderful layout. My only disappointment was that...More

Amazing displays of jade, gold, and Costa Rican history. Displays were in Spanish but interactive screens had English options. Took us about 3 hours without reading everything. Well worth the visit.

this museum is very interesting but not the easiest to navigate and follow - even so, the items on display are interesting and the bits of educational information offered did give a feel for life in various parts of CR before European influence.

We visited the museum to sniff some culture. The museum is displaying Jade artifacts but also explains extensively about the way of life of the ingenious people of Costa Rica before Columbus. I found this more interesting as there’s not much left. Please mind that...More

Brilliant museum over 5 floors with interactive screens/ games also for small kids. Large collection of statues and antiques with good explanations. Friendly personal. Highly recommended when it rains outside. Good Chinese restaurant next door.

This new building housing the Jade museum is wonderfully designed. It has many floors with basicly two sides to each allowing for individual exhibits. Great for the history buff.

This museum has so many objects! They look fascinating. I wish that there was more information about them. You wander through each floor without much direction. A few placards give general overviews however I was left with more questions than answers.

Yes you may. They have a very small souvenir shop. I found the prices to be a bit high, but that seems to be standard at museums.
