What once was a bustling complex is now a dark creepy abandoned maze. Went here hoping for a night out and ended up severely disappointed.

Went here on my first night in San Jose on the advice of my hktel because I was told there would be lots of bars and restaurants here and plenty of choices. There were. But not all were open. Those that were were pretty nice without being anything special and the prices were far higher than in the town centre. Nevertheless it was a safe and pleasant place to eat and have a beer and meet fellow travellers. Not a bad option.

Went to Costa Rica on a whim for my birthday and read about this place. went a few days. Thursday night not so hot. then i went back Friday and Saturday and the place as on fire. It felt like that was the only place to be. I met a girl at another spot another night and randomly ran into her again here. There are tons of bar in like a a little village. They check you before you get in and there you are free to go to any bar you want. I wen to a spot with like $0.50 tequila shots. It was definitely a good time. I can see where it can get a little rough so I would be careful but its a good time.

New Years Eve was our last night in Costa Rica and we wanted to go out with a bang. Most of the people on our G Adventures tour wanted to party so our tour guide Ro took us to El Pueblo. It's a complex of bars and clubs with different styles of music and dancing. A few places have cover charges but most are free to enter. According to Ro, New Years Eve in Costa Rica is more of a family holiday than a party holiday so most of the locals were home this night. So we were pretty much the biggest group with about 16. We had an absolutely great time club hopping between the little bars and ringing in the New Year. Drinks were reasonably priced and the staff were really nice. They gave us sparkly hats and plastic ties and we had so much fun drinking and dancing. It was a great way to celebrate the New Year.

This spot has gone down some. It used to be a venue where you could go and get Attlee bit of everything from clubbing to a nice quiet bar. Last time it seemed a little more rundown.
