It is an experience for environment lovers who want to venture and are willing to travel paths with a certain degree of difficulty to witness the wonders of nature.

I made the arrangements through email prior to arriving. There was no language barrier and the process was very easy. We took 3 tours, irazu volcano and Vista to orosi Valley (and requested trip to ruins of Santiago apostol for no extra charge); Arenal hanging bridges and tabacon hot springs; and per their recommendation, switched the rio sarapiqui boat tour, poas, doka and la paz. The vehicles were in great condition with air conditioning. We booked a group tour with a multiple trip and cash payment discount. Prices were very reasonable. They only do small group tours which we prefer over a charter bus, but we were the only two so it was basically a private tour. Arturo was an amazing tour guide, driving safely and providing just enough information to inform us of the area without overwhelming us with constant information. He arrived on time and identified himself so we found him easily outside the hotel. They let us know exactly what to bring for each tour (passport for Poas) and appropriate clothing. They were incredibly flexible with their tours, they allowed us to cut our hot springs tour short because it had started raining, and even got our included dinners to go. We left our camera in the van after the last tour and didn't realize it until we were packing to go home. We called them and they immediately came back to the hotel to give it to us. We ended up having to switch hotels and they had no problem picking us up at a different location. We needed to get cash, but had difficulty finding an ATM that would accept our debit card, so they took us to multiple banks until we found one that did. Destiny tours went above and beyond our expectations. I highly recommend this tour company and would book through them again if we ever travel back to Costa Rica.

This was our second visit to La Paz and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. Last time we visited was in the rainy season so we were surprised to see how green and beautiful it was in the dry season, too. We had an excellent lunch. If you want a taste of Costa Rica and only have a short time this is an excellent place to visit as you see the birds, animals, insects, flowers and waterfalls all in one place. La Paz also has a good tourist shop.

Juan was our guide and was very personable and knowledgeable. First we visited the Sloth Rescue, but in fact there are many different species there. They really depend on visitors to help raise the money for the animals' care, some of which have been rescued after being hit by cars, electrocuted on power lines, or from irresponsible people who kept them as pets until they became unmanageable. They try to rehabilitate and return to the wild the ones they can. For the others, they have found their forever homes. It's a bit sad, but it's really important work, so I was glad to support them. After that, we visited with the Chief of an indigenous tribe called Huetar. There are very few of this tribe left and they are trying to maintain their traditions as best they can in a very different world. Juan was our interpreter, as the Chief doesn't speak English. It was interesting to hear about their beliefs and traditions, even though there are some that we don't agree with in our modern world. But we respected each other's position, and it was a great reminder that if you listen with an open mind, you can at least agree to disagree. The only reason I'm not giving this excursion 5 stars is that since it was a 7 am pickup, we had breakfast at 6 and didn't arrive back at our hotel until 1:30, then had to go find a place to have lunch. It would have been great to either add a local lunch to the itinerary, or take us to a local place for a snack between appointments. But all in all, an interesting day with a very good guide.

We only had one full day to spend in San Jose/ Central Valley area and chose this tour with Destiny Travel because it covered a good variety of sites and the Orosi Valley appeared to be a beautiful area - we weren't disappointed. We were fortunate to be given a private tour with a great guide, Oscar. After being met at our hotel, we were driven through the city and various landmarks were pointed out, including a brief pause at the National Theatre. We then drove up to Irazu Volcano, a beautiful drive which took us above the clouds. We stopped at a view point which overlooked Cartago (and also the allegedly haunted deserted hospital!) before continuing to Irazu National Park. Oscar dropped us in the main car park and suggested we would need 45 mins - 1 hour to visit the area and he would meet us when we were ready. We spent about 45 mins viewing the craters and the area around them, there was a small lake in the bottom of the crater, pretty flora and an interesting landscape. It was part cloudy, part sunny which was quite atmospheric, whilst still affording good visibility, though not long distance views. Following this, we were driven to the highest point on Irazu from where we could look down on the craters, this was a great view, which came and went with the clouds, but we chatted with Oscar and had a couple of clear spells during the time we were there. As we came back down, we stopped at Linda Vista, the highest restaurant in Costa Rica. It was an interesting place to stop as it had photos of previous eruptions but slightly bizarre, with every vertical surface being covered in business cards! We continued to Cartago where we visited the Basilica of the Angels, which was really pretty. Every surface was beautifully painted and the ceiling was an interesting and attractive structure. We continued on visiting the viewpoint for the Orosi valley, which was a lovely landscaped area with great views of the valley before driving down to the historic ruined church at Ujarras, which was a pretty and quiet sight to walk around. We then crossed the dam over lake Cachi, where Oscar dropped us so that we could take a closer look and then picked us up at the end before driving though the valley to Orosi, where we visited the oldest church in Costa Rica still in public use. It was a beautiful church with a great sense of history. Orosi was a lovely little town and we ate at a restaurant there before returning to our hotel. A full and fabulous day!

We had a wonderful visit to the Toucan Rescue Ranch, and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica. The animals are incredible, and the tour guides there are very knowledgeable, and the staff is amazing. I highly recomendó taking an Uber from San José rather than signing up for this $150 “tour.” Our driver provided no helpful information and was not a guide, though he was prompt and courteous. You can purchase tickets for the TRR on line or on site for $35 per adult, and the Uber from San José is about $12 each way.

Dear client... THank you so much for your comments and we are glad to know you had a great time at the Ranch. Regarding what you mentioned about the driver, certainly it is a short drive from any Hotel in San Jose to the Ranch and the certified guides at the Ranch are ready to welcome you and provide you with the full information during the tour. 85% of the price you paid goes to the ranch funds as a donation that will help this place to continues with its good work taking care of injured animals. We would like to thank you again becuase with your visit you are being part of this great project.
