Rios Tropicales is an eco-adventure company that operates throughout Costa Rica. We offer adventure activities that take advantage of Costa Rica’s unique variety of environments: whitewater rafting, multisport activities that feature kayaking, canoeing, hiking, and cycling, family adventures, cultural encounters, nature and wildlife tours, and “volun-tourism”. Our mission, to share the rivers, natural resources and culture of Costa Rica while sharing conservation values, has not changed since we began in 1985. Rios Tropicales was established by native Central Americans, El Salvadorian Rafael Gallo and Costa Rican Fernando Esquivel, whose deep connection with the region and culture are apparent in every aspect of the company.

This was my third white water rafting trip and it was definitely the best value I've ever gotten! It started with an early morning (5:10am) where we were picked up at our Hotel in San Jose. Transported to the rafting location (which was hours away) and fed breakfast and then went off to raft. The trip lasted a LONG time... More

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience with us, I hope you can return to the Pacuare during our rainy season , it gets to be pretty solid Class IV in many places, still family friendly , but you have to paddle hard, and maybe miss some of the hanging vines around. Thanks More

Never having been white water rafting before in my life. I was somewhat apprehensive but nevertheless really looking forward to it. I was not disappointed. Our instructor was great; skilled and calm, he coaxed us through every step and pushed us hard. 28km of various rapids, it was such fun. I was his first "man overboard" and I have to... More

Dave, Ricardo, and Woncarlo were our leaders in the 17 mile paddle down the Picuare River in Costa Rica. Awesome experience. They really know how to manage the waters. We docked at the edge of the river and had a fantastic lunch. We paddled to the lodge at the edge of the jungle and stayed for 2 nights. Coming from... More
