I went to the SLBC and it was great! It's very easy to get there, and they have a huge sign in the entrance which for me is so important, especially for tourists! The entrance was really cheap which is very good especially for large amounts of people or families. No food or drinks are allowed inside, except water, yet inside they have a snack and drink bar with snacks, beers, waters etc. They also have a restaurant but we went to another restaurant nearby that we wanted to visit. Another pro was the fact that you could leave as you pleased and come back as well. The pool is huge! There was a lot space and also areas with shade because the sun is intense! Yet you can feel breeze all the time! They had music which was very nice. My absolute favorite pro from this club was the bathrooms and changing areas. Very clean, with space and super comfortable to shower and change. That is very important especially with hot weather! All around, its a great place to share with friends or family and to spend the weekend!

My husband and I went to San Lucas Beach club before catching the ferry. We got to the ferry early and were super hungry and wanted somewhere to sit and enjoy our first few hours in Costa Rica. There is not much to do around the ferry and there are some sketchy looking restaurants and bars, but San Lucas beach club looked good so we went in. Great beach and ocean views. We had imperial beers and selected some appetizers off the spanish only menu. We got plantain trio, shrimp ceviche and fried cheese balls. All the food was excellent. The trio was many fried plantains with cheese, pico and black beans and was amazing. The fried cheese was huge pieces of cheese with a spicy dipping sauce. Ceviche was fresh, limey and delicious. We were amazed at the price - 25 USD for 4 beers and all that food. It was probably one of the best meals we had our whole trip in Costa Rica for the price. We would definitely come back.

It's a nice place, nothing surprising, but I'd suggest you spend your time doing something else. In CR there are so many better things to do than to go to a pool. Explore!

I recently had dinner here with my father. We stayed in Puntarenas for two nights. The first night we decided to eat at the Beach Club. Granted, we visited during the rainy season, so there weren't too many people at the restaurant (which isn't such a bad thing!), but there was a DJ and the waiter service and the food was fantastic! Our waiter gave us some free ceviche samples, and it was the best ceviche I had during my stay in CR. I got ceviche as an appetizer at all of the restaurants I went to...this was the tastiest! However, I tried to order the tuna from the menu, and the waiter came back and told us they didn't have that available. This is totally understandable as the tuna isn't farmed and it's caught wild. But then I tried to order the chicken and rice Costa Rican specialty, and they didn't have that available either. But as I noted previously, this was the off season and the clientele at the restaurant was minimal, so the menu was as well. The view and ambience were great. We got a table "inside", but it was open-air and had a view of the beach. The meal was very reasonable priced. All around, a pretty darn good place to eat.
