Not only are there many different gorgeous birds, but also Leopards, Jaguar, Sloth and more to be seen. This tour was offered by our Cruise Line and our guide "Anna" spoke excellent English and did a terrific job. We had a Mangrove Cruise for the first segment of our tour and then stopped here. It is great to take videos so you can "listen" to the birds once you are back home! Some of the Macaws who have been "released" don't leave the property so you "may" seem them flying over you during your visit. Their is a small gift shop on site as well. PLEASE STAY ON THE PATHS PROVIDED - DO NOT GO UP TO THE ENCLOSURES UNLESS THE PATH TAKES YOU THERE. If you need a "walker" the ground is uneven and could be a challenge.…

The 8 of us took a private tour of the Macaw Sanctuary Natuwa with a wonderful tour guide, Geovanna, from Arenas Travel. She walked us through the sanctuary giving us all of the details you could hope for about the resident animals, the sanctuary rescue and breeding programs, and more. When we booked the trip online we were warned that seeing sloths was not a guarantee as this is rescue sanctuary, not a zoo, so we set our expectations...fortunately (for us) we saw 3 sloths at the sanctuary. Two slept the entire time, but the 3rd was very active (for a sloth) and we got some great photos of the cute little guy! Highly recommend the sanctuary and tour company! Make sure to bring $$ for the shop snacks and souvenirs to further support these great wildlife programs.…

We stopped here going from San Jose to Monteverde with a party of 9, 4 adults and 5 kids ages 10-15. Our guide who is the director was wonderful. We were impressed and surprised by how many animals we saw and we were especially in love with the sloth we saw. We were there at closing and were able to see the sloth up close as he came down to his handler to get put to bed. It was amazing. While it is always sad to see animals in captivity, we felt confident that the animals are in very good care and that the mission of the sanctuary is to give them the best care possible. Lots of animals to learn about, and a great tour guide!…
