We had a wonderful day with a small group of passengers from the Holland America Rotterdam. The tour was booked privately for four of us, and we found two other couples to join us through Cruise Critic. The driver and guide were very knowledgeable and patient with our numerous questions. It took a while for the Capuchin monkeys to appear, but the men were very patient and kept calling (whistling?) for them. Finally there was movement in the trees, and a few of the little guys made an appearance for us. They stopped the van for some Scarlet Macaws, so we could all get out and take photos. The crocodile river cruise was better than I expected, and cold beer and soda were enjoyed with a spectacular view. Communicating by email prior to booking the excursion was very easy. We travel with mobility issues (on crutches), and they were very accommodating and considerate. Tripadvisor seems to think that when I write the driver and guides' names it is using profanity, so I will be unable to mention them.

We really enjoyed our tour with Odyssey Day and our guide, Albert. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. If you only have one day here, this is the tour to do. This had been recommended to me by a friend and now I can recommend it to others. We were picked up right at the dock - easy and convenient. Six of us were in a comfortable AC van. The 10 activities were all great. One of the best was the cruise on the Tarcoles River to watch the birds and crocodiles in this mangrove forest. Amazing! A stop for a beverage at a restaurant with spectacular views from the rainforest was also a highlight. We ended up choosing to skip the last stop - a visit to Puntarenas as it was getting late and Albert did not want us to be late for the ship. We were all tired from a long, hot day and did not feel the need to walk around the city. We still did 10 sights because Albert had added an extra one in along the way. Thanks, Albert, for a great tour! We would like to come back to Costa Rica!

Made arrangements to be picked up from Puerto Caldera, spend the day site-seeing and then dropped off near San Jose's International Airport. Alvaro put together a very interesting tour. Our guide, Albert and driver were excellent. Ran into others that had been on our cruise the next morning at the airport and compared notes. Our tour was so much better than the "shuttle" from the ship.

Our cruise ship docked in Puerto Caldera and we had to take a complimentary shuttle out of the port as we had booked this tour independently. You are not allowed to walk out of the port. Tour guides greeted us with signs and had a very nice, clean, air conditioned van waiting for us, along with a free bottled water. There was a dozen or so of us that had all booked this tour while talking on Cruise Critic before our cruise. This was a jam-packed day, with many interesting stops. We saw monkeys that came up close to us, in the trees, along the road. There were lots of interesting birds and iguanas in the trees and our tour guide, Juan, had a telescope to get a closer look. Juan was fun, interesting and knowledgeable; spoke very good English and gave great instructions and meeting times. He kept us moving smoothly, not rushed, to get all the activities in and was always mindful of getting us back to the ship in time. We made stops at fruit stands, shops with local artists (bring money for these items),free samples of Costa Rican coffee and had a lovely lunch/drink at a couple of restaurants (included in price). We enjoyed pipa fria (cold coconut water for $2) The highlight for us was the crocodile river boat tour. We enjoyed about an hour ride along the river and saw many birds and crocodiles. The boat company that Odyssey Tours uses has a guide that actually gets out of the boat and feeds a crocodile--get your cameras ready!! It was very easy to book with Odyssey Tours and our e-mails were answered quickly. They asked for payment in cash (US dollars) at the end of our tour and the more people that signed up, the price decreased by $5 pp, so find some friends on Cruise Critic to go with:)

On Feb 13 we experienced Odyssey's 10 in 1 Highlights of Costa Rica's Pacific Coast tour as a shore excursion. We had a wonderful day! Our guide Juan was amazing and kept us informed and entertained throughout. We learned so much about Costa Rica, the areas we were visiting, the wildlife we saw... the crocodile expedition was fantastic, and we saw an amazing number and types of birds and of course crocs. Juan showed us the monkeys too, calling them towards us in some way and pointing out many details about them. Driving through the rain forest, we learned about many trees and bushes of the area, and then ended up at a great place on a beach for a local lunch that was quite delicious. All in all it was a great day, enjoyed by all. We would do this tour again with great pleasure and no hesitation at all.
